In a historic meeting at the Vatican, @AJCCEO Ted Deutch and AJC leaders met with Pope Leo XIV, who reaffirmed his commitment to combating antisemitism and strengthening Jewish-Catholic relations. As antisemitism and anti-Israel hatred rise around the world, AJC will continue working with Catholic leaders to turn this shared commitment into meaningful action and strengthen the bonds between our communities. jewishinsider.com/2026/10/aj…

We are horrified by the terrorist attack at Hamoud Church in Karak, Jordan, this morning, in which six were killed and 28 injured. We condemn this attack unequivocally and stand with our partners in Jordan and Jordan’s Christian community. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected. We pray for the swift recovery of the injured and arrest of the perpetrators.

AJC is appalled that a planned professional development trip to Reggio Emilia, Italy, for early childhood educators affiliated with many of our Jewish communal partners was met with political litmus tests, protests, and antisemitic rhetoric. Together with @JFederations, @ADL, @Conf_of_Pres, and @PrizmahCJDS, we have issued a joint statement condemning this deeply troubling incident. It reflects a broader pattern of isolating Jews and Jewish institutions, restricting opportunities for cultural exchange, learning, and mutual understanding, and demanding that Jews renounce the State of Israel. « The moment antisemitism rises, there is a danger to democracy, and therefore we say that antisemitism affects all of society and not just Jews, and that is precisely what is happening » @SarahPerezPar directrice par intérim d’AJC Paris était interrogée hier par @IsraelHayomEng alors que la France connaît un épisode de violence et de dégradations jamais vu. israelhayom.com/2026/10/19/f…

We have watched with horror as violent riots have engulfed Paris and spread across France. What we are witnessing should serve as a cautionary tale for leaders everywhere. Failing to confront extremism and allowing extremist rhetoric and behavior to become normalized erode democratic values, deepen societal divisions, and create the conditions for political violence to take hold. For more than 20 years, @AJC_Paris has warned that rising antisemitism and extremism are not only threats to the Jewish community, but also warning signs of a deeper crisis facing French democracy and society. We stand with the peaceful, law-abiding people of France whose lives, livelihoods, and communities have been affected by the violence, and hope for a swift restoration of peace and stability. israelhayom.com/2026/10/19/f…

When Jewish communities are under threat, democracy is under threat, too. Across Europe, antisemitism, political extremism, and Iran’s proxy networks are converging. @AnneSoSebban, AJC’s Vice President of Europe, explains what’s happening and how AJC is responding: pushing for the EU to list Iran’s IRGC as a terrorist organization, tackling antisemitism in France, protecting historical truth in Poland, and warning about the dangers posed by Germany’s far-right AfD.

We congratulate our dear friend Katharina von Schnurbein on her appointment as Germany’s Federal Government Commissioner for Jewish Life and the Fight against Antisemitism. Through @AJCTAI, AJC has worked closely with von Schnurbein during her years as @EUAntisemitism coordinator, where she led European efforts to combat antisemitism and promote Jewish life. We thank her for her friendship, partnership, and tireless dedication that has impacted Jewish communities across Europe. We look forward to working with her in her new role through @AJCBerlin.

An AJC delegation met with German Chancellor @Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz yesterday in Berlin to discuss rising antisemitism in Germany and across Europe and the need for stronger international cooperation to protect Jewish communities. Our fruitful conversation also touched on the need to support robust transatlantic relations and stand with Ukraine against Russian aggression. AJC was the first American Jewish organization to establish a presence in post-Holocaust Germany with the opening of @AJCBerlin. We deeply value our longstanding partnership with Germany.

Yesterday in Strasbourg, @AJCTAI organized a memorial event honoring the victims of the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack, attended by @EP_President @RobertaMetsola, members of the European Parliament, and former hostage Omri Miran. This anniversary is, first and foremost, a time to honor the victims, the hostages, and their families. October 7 marked the deadliest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust and was followed by an unprecedented surge in antisemitism across Europe and around the world. As we witness growing attempts to rewrite history, distort the facts, and minimize the atrocities of that day, remembrance is more important than ever. We must never lose sight of what happened, who started this war, or the consequences that followed.
Yesterday at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the AJC Transatlantic Institute was honoured to co-organise, together with @IMPACoexistence, a commemoration of October 7 under the theme "Memory. Dignity. The Duty to Prevent." We thank @EP_President @RobertaMetsola for her powerful remarks, MEP @HildeBentele for hosting this important commemoration, former hostage Omri Miran for sharing his testimony, and all those who joined us to honour the victims and stand against terrorism. #NeverForget #October7

Antisemitism is not only a threat to Jews. It can be used to divide societies, manipulate democratic debate, and weaken institutions. When governments understand how antisemitism operates, they are better equipped to protect society as a whole. At the Warsaw Human Dimension Conference, AJC’s Director of Antisemitism Policy Holly Huffnagle challenged OSCE members to take the “Warsaw Test” by answering five critical questions: - Who in your government sees the whole picture, connecting antisemitic threats with outside actors? - Could your government detect if a foreign actor were artificially shaping domestic debate? - Can your citizens tell whether online influence is authentic or where it comes from? - Are you prepared for AI-enabled influence operations? - Do you treat rising antisemitism as a threat to Jews alone, or a warning about the security of your democracy? Preventing antisemitism is an investment in national security, democratic resilience, and social cohesion—and helps make Europe safer for everyone.

Today's Home Office figures show that antisemitic hate crime remains at an unacceptably high level. Anti-Jewish hate crimes recorded by the police increased by 10% over the past year, but the most striking finding is the relative impact that this has compared to the small size of the Jewish community. As seen previously, Jewish people continue to experience by far the highest police-recorded rate per head of religious hate crime of any faith group. This shows the disproportionate scale of anti-Jewish hatred and its impact on Jewish life in Britain.   These figures also show that antisemitic hate crime has remained elevated since the 7 October terrorist attack and the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict, with further spikes following the terrorist attack at Heaton Park Synagogue in October 2025 and the start of the war with Iran in February 2026. Events in the Middle East, and attacks against Jewish communities here in Britain, can fuel further antisemitism and have a direct impact on the safety and security of British Jews, and there is an urgent need to reduce the amount of incitement connected to conflict overseas.   Much more needs to be done across society to tackle this problem. We will continue to work closely with government, police and community partners to tackle antisemitism and help ensure that Jewish people can live safely.

For the first time, Israel has opened a national pavilion at the Marrakech Airshow in Morocco, bringing together eight Israeli defense companies and showcasing advanced technologies. Since the Abraham Accords, Israel-Morocco ties have grown into a robust strategic relationship. Building on the 2020 re-establishment of ties and their historic defense MOU, Israel and Morocco announced plans last month to upgrade diplomatic relations, in partnership with the United States. These are tangible steps toward a stronger partnership and a powerful example of the promise of regional cooperation. AJC’s Center for a New Middle East will continue to support efforts to deepen existing ties and widen the circle of Arab-Israeli peace. timesofisrael.com/liveblog_e…

The European Parliament has sent a clear message: entities and individuals linked to the Muslim Brotherhood should be added to the EU terrorist list. Islamist extremism has no place in Europe. Today's vote underscores the need for a comprehensive EU strategy to counter Islamist entryism, radicalisation, and networks that threaten our democratic values.
