My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 49 and had a mastectomy. No reconstruction back then so she wore a prosthesis. She survived for 30 years, and in all of those years, she stood in rain, hail and sun in Killiney Shopping Centre collecting for Daffodil Day.
