Honored to have worked with @CoDieckmann and @Anrizzy on this important story about some of the last surviving ROC soldiers who fought in the Chinese civil war.

@derspiegel

I encountered a group of Havruta elementary students wrapping up their outdoor democracy class near the Legislature protest site. Their history teacher held a DIY protest umbrella guiding the cheerful pupils to MRT.

I had a great time interviewing Taiwan president Lai Ching-te's longtime barbers in Tainan last month. They said they designed a "presidential cut" for him in 1990s, of course never thinking he'd actually be president, based on...

There are two reasons for the legislative brawl in Taiwan now. The first issue is that KMT works with TPP to block all DPP's proposals from being read for the first time since the beginning of this Legislative term. All DPP's proposals were returned by the agenda committee.

Many videos show the impact of the earthquake that struck Taiwan on Wednesday. I found this hospital one especially touching, showing nurses rushing to keep all the babies safe. Life is fragile, and they're doing all they can to protect the most fragile ones of all. Bless them🙏

Look, I know this is a hot take but I’m impressed by Pizza Hut’s turtle pizza, and I will explain why. This is a pizza inspired by Tsao a Kueh 草仔粿, a traditional rice-based food to have on Tomb-Sweeping Day, which is on April 4th this year.

Last night a friend asked me a question that blew my mind:
“Do you think China will become a democracy in our lifetime?”
I said no. He said the same.
“That’s the root cause of all of Taiwan’s problems.”
Yet no one expects China to change. Only Taiwan.

After the #TaiwanElections, I'm sharing my experience to advocate for better working conditions and mutual respect in the industry. Local journalists/fixers play a crucial role in international reporting, but sadly, not all foreign journalists show the respect they deserve.

Many Taiwanese young voters say they are weary of geopolitics and yearn for a campaign more focused on their needs at home. In interviews, a considerable number expressed disillusionment with the two dominant parties. w/@ChuBailiang 📷 @Anrizzy @LamYikFei
