YNW Melly’s double murder retrial is getting closer, and a judge has ordered jury selection to be livestreamed due to the high-profile nature of the case. Around 500 potential jurors will be summoned, with increased security measures in place following concerns over inappropriate contact and attempted communication involving jurors during the previous trial.
Melly has been behind bars for over seven years, accused of killing his two childhood friends after a studio session in 2018. His first trial ended in a mistrial in July 2023, and he is now set to be represented by attorney Drew Findling, who recently secured a not-guilty verdict for Lil Durk in his federal murder-for-hire case.
Jury selection is scheduled to begin on Jan. 6, 2027.
