In other words, Trump's rally in Gastonia (9/16) and Vance's stop in Greensboro (on 9/21) couldn't turn things around for Whatley...

Florida should be tailor-made for Byron Donalds. But his historic run for governor is colliding with two forces: brutal nat'l political headwinds & a racial barrier no Black Republican has ever broken. My latest for @MSNOWNews ms.now/opinion/byron-donalds… ms.now/opinion/byron-donalds…

"...I believe that Presidents are entitled to broad discretion when selecting cabinet secretaries," Susan Collins, 2/4/25, on voting to confirm Russ Voight, a key architect of Project 2025, as OMB Director. mainepublic.org/politics/202…
Without warning or consultation, Congress just received an $810 million package of pocket rescissions from the Administration.  This is the most recent attempt by this Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to undermine Congress’s Constitutional power of the purse.    This move shows that OMB intentionally withheld these funds for months to execute this unlawful cancellation of appropriations that were approved on a bipartisan basis and signed into law.     Not only is the delay itself an impoundment that was not reported to Congress, but also it is a usurpation of Congress’s appropriations powers.  OMB is an agency of the executive branch.  It does not get to decide which programs are worth funding.   The independent Government Accountability Office has concluded that pocket rescissions are unlawful and not permitted by the Impoundment Control Act. Any effort to rescind appropriated funds without congressional approval is a clear violation of the law.   I will work with my colleagues to address these illegal actions.

The Supreme Court's message to Missouri....
BREAKING: The Supreme Court has - for the third time - blocked Missouri's new GOP-friendly congressional map. The Court stayed the Eighth Circuit's ruling in favor of the new map. This is an unsigned opinion with no dissents.

Let me tell ya something: Gov. Mikie Sherrill is a Jersey girl not to be played with. I’ve been out of Jersey politics for a couple decades, but I watched every twist of the Caldwell investigation. Yesterday, she demanded her lieutenant governor’s resignation. Today, she got it. Tough political terrain. This could’ve gone sideways any number of ways. She navigated the land mines and drew the line. She also owes the Black leaders who stood with her BIG TIME. Every Jersey politico just got the message: when Mikie Sherrill said “highest ethical standards,” she meant it, dammit. 😂

I reread this every year. I cry like a baby every year. Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero. Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked. Lisa: I understand. Can they see you? Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake. Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor. Lisa: Are you okay? Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again. Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true? Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan. Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call. Lisa: I promise. Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy. Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.) Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol. Todd: I understand. I’ll be back. Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot. Lisa: What are you going to do? Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out. Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.

“The affidavit says the guardsman and the alleged victim, a woman, argued about their hairstyles and compliance with Army regulations. During the exchange, the suspect allegedly said he would “slap the Jackson 5” out of her.”
A @DCNationalGuard allegedly pointed his service weapon at another soldier during an argument on H Street NE, later telling @DCPoliceDept that it was "playful banter". hillrag.com/2026/09/08/natio…

Todd Blanche is speaking at this week’s GOP’s convention. 51 years ago, a Republican president sent Ed Levi to DOJ to clean up after Watergate. At the swearing-in, Ford said politics have no place in law enforcement. Levi said the law is not an instrument of partisan purpose. That was the post-Watergate standard. Until now. @axiosalex axios.com/2026/09/05/republi…

Nothing burnishes a reporter’s credibility faster than a Trump attack. In July, Kristen Welker took heat for yukking it up w/ Stephen Miller at the WHCA dinner. Now he’s attacking her over a benign, accurate statement. Maybe Trump world is helping her more than hurting her

Todd Blanche says Trump's $1.8 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund is "dead." 🤔  But if DOJ can use existing law instead, does it matter? **My latest: Blanche's nomination may be stalled, but payouts to Trump allies are already underway.** ms.now/opinion/todd-blanche-…

The DNC is right to center Black voters in the Dem primary process. But why not do it in competitive states that decide presidential elections? Ga and NC fit that bill. SC doesn't. The Dem primary calendar shouldn't just choose the nominee. It should expand the playing field.

New Jersey found an error, and disclosed it. Trump fabricated a fraud narrative, and more than 60 courts rejected it. Those are not the same thing.

Todd Blanche is an architect of the Epstein cover-up. Any vote to make him AG is an endorsement of it. There is no split-the-difference vote here. Every senator who votes yes owns it.
