RIP Richard Lloyd. It’s insane to think that Lloyd, Verlaine, and Quine all came out of the same New York scene. Three of the greatest guitarists ever, all gone now. NYC legends.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
“The Brooklyn Nets are still looking for a defensive identity, offensive consistency, and of course, their first win of the season. The Indiana Pacers had no interest in aiding the search Sunday evening…”

While I’d quibble with The Bends not being great (being Radiohead’s best album should count for something), I can’t argue with a Garden Variety shout-out. Also…. Subscribe to CREEM
Not one great album here.
1995 was a weirdly bad year for music. The post-grunge explosion had faded, and 2nd wave emo and post-rock were about to emerge but hadn't yet, along with bands like Modest Mouse.
The best records that year were probably "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx," "Wowee Zowee," "To Bring You My Love," "Ghost of Tom Joad," Garden Variety's "Knocking the Skill Level," and the first Sparklehorse album (which I had forgotten came out in '95).
Yeah man

I was lucky enough to go with @errollouis to Gloria Steinem’s home last year and talk with her about her incredible career and her time with Bella Abzug. RIP to one of the all-time greats. Fearless to the end.
Breaking News: Gloria Steinem, the feminist crusader who galvanized the modern women’s movement, challenged sexist assumptions and fought for gender equality, has died at 92. nyti.ms/4gS9EkV
Yesterday I saw Thurston Moore and Dinosaur at TV Eye (which wasn’t as FAR as everyone says) then hit @shabbeyroad birthday at Mama Tried. Now off to @CoyoteACMEMovie at the @nitehawkcinema
Lindeen’s piece seemed so far away in 2017 and now it’s tomorrow for me. So beautifully done.
Not sure how I missed this back in 2017 but Laurie Lindeen wrote a beautiful, moving piece for the NYT about taking her son to college with her ex, Paul Westerberg

There is such a great 80s Winwood needle drop in The End of Oak Street. Maybe can kickstart this Winwood renaissance. @EndofOakStreet
This Optimo/DFA take on The Whole of the Moon is beautiful. James Murphy shows up too open.spotify.com/track/7J18Z… @MickPuck
I’d add @_motherslug @paranoiacs @ZacharyLipez and if they’re on there and I didn’t see them, I’m happy to be mentioning them again.
