As Apollo completes 43 years, I am reminded that great healthcare rests on three principles: Mastery to advance medicine. Trust to give people confidence in our care. Kindness to see the person beyond the patient. As we enter our 44th year, these will continue to guide us. @HospitalsApollo

Happy to share our work just published in PBC on delivering advanced RT for children with Ewings and RMS across a multi-geography referral network.
The key message is that coordinated multimodality sarcoma care can be maintained even when chemo, Sx and RT are spread across institutions and borders – early referral during induction, a dedicated coordinator, pre-travel consults and shared follow-up are key.

A potentially transformative shift in rectal cancer care as early-stage patients may be able to avoid major surgery and a colostomy through carefully selected organ-preserving chemo-radiotherapy. If these results hold up, it could mean better cancer outcomes without the life-altering consequences of surgery for many patients.

Happy to share the publication of Calculation of the Absolute Risk of a Radiation-Induced Acute Coronary Event in Patients With BreastCancer: A Hypothesis Incorporating Indian Ethnicity in the @IJROBP. doi.org/10.1016/j.ijrobp.202…
Briefly: a hypothesis to estimate the absolute risk of an ACE by determining the baseline cardiac risk using the QRisk3 and QRisk Lifetime models and the impact of radiation using the Darby model.
Outcome: Comorbidities double baseline lifetime cardiac risk. Age, comorbidities and ethnicity impact baseline 10-year risk.
A mean heart dose considered “acceptable”, 3-4 Gy, increases the absolute lifetime risk 5% or more in patients with co-morbidities.
The dose threshold for a 2% increase in the 10-year absolute risk is 2 Gy or lower in elderly women, lower for Indian women compared to “White or not stated” ethnicity.
