I have no idea what’s going to happen with conference realignment but the App State-JMU series going away is criminal. Everything good about the sport: two proud programs in the same region who sell out their stadiums. It needs to be revived, one way or another.

Painfully obvious that passing was not going to work and Hasselbeck gave us the best chance to establish the run. Downpour in the forecast all week, coming off a bye and we bang our heads against the wall for three hours. All momentum gone, back to square one.

Regardless of weather, when your opponent has allowed 88 points in their last two games, you deserve to lose if you score 3 on your home field through three and a half quarters. Not sure I can recall a worse offensive performance.

The self-important “announcement tweet” about not going to any more State games this year and tagging the official team accounts, because the App game was closer than you wanted. 10/10 lack of awareness about where you are on the food chain. No notes.

At the end of the day, App lost because we gave up 200 rushing yards but damn, that was so bad. Such a huge early momentum swing.

Watching the Thursday night game, I’ve learned that Liberty’s star receiver is Makai Jackson and their leading tackler is Derrell Farrar.

Seen a few mentions of NC State fans wanting the App game to go like Richmond. Fully expect those boys to be ready to bounce back at home but damn, it’s going to be a LONG conference season if we don’t put up a better fight than a Patriot League team with 19 injured players.

Thoughts after digesting that UNCC game: sloppiest of the year, partial pass with the weird circumstances but didn’t feel like a step forward. Happy that the lessons come from a win, feel good about QB1 and improved D. Better than last year, TBD on how much better. On to Raleigh.
