I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenig’s passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.
Oh I remember this. They were both laughing so hard. If they both had so much fun with it, why should anyone else be miffed?
Doc Severinsen asked Johnny Carson on air if he was helping "Mrs. Carson" with the Thanksgiving turkey. There was no Mrs. Carson.
Doc led the Tonight Show band for 25 years. Carson was married four times, and all of it played out in public.
When the question landed, Carson didn't dodge it. He corrected his friend, said he'd forgotten about that, and turned the divorce into the joke. Oyster stuffing versus bread stuffing. He lost that argument, and she got a lot more than the stuffing.
Doc fired back that after so many years he sometimes forgot which wife they were on for which Thanksgiving.
The audience applauded.
Only a friend of 25 years can ask that question on national TV. And only a man who has made peace with it can answer it like that.

I swear to god there's at least 3 or 4 different points in every Carlos Alcaraz match that just make you stop and stare. Doesn't matter what stage the match it as, they'll come regardless of the moment, and I fucking love it.
That still has to be my favorite Mariah non music moment. Throwing that first pitch in Japan in that outfit, especially the high heels
