Y’all think we can show the college sports world just how elite this place really is tomorrow and have the stands filled from 11:30 all the way thru 3:30?! I’m talking about creating electricity all day - pregame to postgame.
It’s going to take a concerted effort from every alum, student, fan, and friend. Let’s do it!

Heartbroken to hear of the passing of our teammate, John Paul Macri.
John Paul’s battle with brain cancer showed all of us what toughness, perseverance and courage truly look like. He didn’t just join our team at JMU—he helped shape it. His fight inspired our players, our coaches and everyone fortunate enough to know him.
The lessons John Paul taught us will live on far beyond football. He will always be part of our team and part of our hearts.
Rest easy, JP.

JMU head coach Billy Napier opened his weekly press conference today with a statement on the passing of John Paul.
Napier met John Paul after taking over the head coaching job, and named a team award after him this past spring.
A hard day for the program all around.
A truly heartbreaking loss for the JMU community today.
John Paul Macri, who became close with the football program following his DIPG diagnosis in 2025, passed away last night. His mother, Katie, shared the news on social media.
Katie and Nick Macri talked with me back in 2025 about John Paul, and it’s an interview and story I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.
My thoughts are with the Macri family.

Dan Lanning said on the Jim Rome Show today that UCLA coach Bob Chesney texted him on Saturday night and offered to help with Dante Moore any way he could.
"He text me as they were traveling back to LA and said, 'Hey, if you need my help with Dante or anything and he's still in LA, I'll go check on this guy. I'm giving the team off tomorrow; let me know.' It speaks to the kind of person he is. I've got a lot of respect for him and his program."

Nick Chubb says his obsession with greatness costed him the ability to be present in life, and influenced his decision to retire
“I didn’t listen to music. I kind of just liked being aware of my surroundings. I guess it sounds kind of corny, but I didn’t have headphones. I’d kind of be lost in my thoughts. During games, it was like a blackout. That’s why people say I didn’t talk on the sidelines. I didn’t, ’cause I was so locked in on what was ahead of me.”
“It’s like I wasn’t even there. And I would snap out of it when we were winning or when the game was over, and I would just kind of come back to myself. So that’s kind of why I needed to stop playing football, because I was never present.”
“Even in the offseason, I’d be at home, and I’m just thinking about, okay, tomorrow I need to go harder in the weight room. I need to run faster. I need to hit these numbers. I’m just always constantly, over and over, like, how can I get better? I want more. I want to do more. Just nonstop, just wanting to be the best and be my best and work hard.”
“And I look up, like, 30 years old, and I’m like, okay, there’s some things in life that I haven’t accomplished or I haven’t done just being a human, not an athlete. So that kind of led to me wanting to stop, more than just my injuries. Just living my life, living the life that I want to live.”
