So many people experiencing addiction have told me that their issues began during school, but their friends didn't know how to help. Excited to further develop our unique program for schools across Australia, to help address stigma & build young people's help-seeking skills.

New research into prison visitation has found that information about how to organise visits, and the rules that apply to visits, is extremely hard to find. Incorrect advice from prisons themselves resulted in cancelled or traumatic visits. Read more here: latrobe.edu.au/news/articles…

Australia-wide, the number of people incarcerated without a prison sentence is still growing. Imprisonment on remand is always disruptive, often unjust, and rarely rehabilitative. There is simply no justification for its widespread use. theguardian.com/australia-ne…

This is a staggering stat. Staggering because #substanceuse is not at all reflected in #suicideprevention frameworks or strategies internationally. This data is from the UK but not dissimilar to other countries. When will we do something about this? #SuicidePrevention – at Melbourne, Victoria

Kellogg's has announced a new domestic abuse policy of support to workers, including extra paid leave. If you are an employer and do not yet have a policy on domestic abuse please actively consider one. Employees deserve awareness and support. bbc.com/news/uk-england-manc…

We caretake because we’re desperate to be taken care of for once. We see the best in people because we’re desperate for people to see the best in us. We want to protect vulnerable people because we were once that vulnerable person unprotected. Our younger self always remembers.

Have you called your Mum yet today? Hundreds of kids in Victoria can't. This #MothersDay, we’re calling on Corrections Victoria to fully fund phone calls from people in prison to their loved ones, and to increase the length of time they're allowed to talk.

At the first hearing for the Joint Committee on Law Enforcement inquiry into illicit drugs on Thursday, our Dr @KarenGelb called for a rebalancing of Australia's drug policy to reduce harms of drug use and criminalisation, which disproportionately burden disadvantaged groups.

'We need decrim & reg of drugs, pill testing accessible to everyone, more MSIRs, more naloxone trg, more NSPs. All these things are proven to save lives and are basic human rights.' Hear more from Baden: youtu.be/PpjHNmTky4w #LifeWithAddiction #HarmReduction #IHRD23

Supervised consumption sites don’t “enable” drug use, they provide health care for people who are already using drugs. You shouldn’t have to be drug free to access health care! My last overdose was at booth 5 and I’m now over a decade sober. That wouldn’t be possible without harm reduction.
