Readers added context they thought people might want to know

BREAKING: UN torture expert denounces colleagues Francesca Albanese and Reem Alsalem for denying October 7 atrocities and ignoring Hamas torture of Israeli hostages: “My colleagues said nothing. I felt ashamed. Their one-sided, vitriolic reports added to families’ anguish.”
Dr. Alice Jill Edwards: “The UN had done so little to help them... I felt ashamed. I am still outraged that UN special rapporteurs Francesca Albanese and Reem Alsalem never formally documented these horrors. Instead, both have continued to issue a stream of what I regard as one-sided and vitriolic reports, and hard-to-justify excuses for their lack of attention. That, families and returned hostages have told me, only added to their anguish.”

We will all soon know what it feels like to be Jewish. In France, they already do.
It will be our just deserts for having abandoned the Jews, ignored their warnings, turned against them, and even marched alongside their oppressors.
For three years, you useful idiots have been parading Palestinian flags, sporting keffiyehs, screaming “From the River to the Sea”, and recognizing a fictitious Palestinian state as a reward for Hamas’s October 7 massacre (looking at you, @EmmanuelMacron). You have boycotted the only Jewish state in the world, vilified the Jewish people’s right to self-determination (aka “Zionism”), and spread the “Gaza genocide” blood libel.
Did you really think that if you fed the crocodile enough Jewish flesh, it would eventually be satiated? All you have done is embolden the monster and whet its appetite.
So you were worried about “colonization”? Look around. The only thing being colonized here are our own Western cities. The Palestinian flag has become a victory banner, proudly waved amid the ruins of looted and vandalized historic buildings—a symbol of hatred for our civilization and everything it stands for.
It never ends with the Jews.

Ph Blandine Fraysse, 4.4.2024, La Provence

These are just from the past week. Caring about Palestinians is not an excuse to be silent when antisemitism is being normalized across the world.

Please bear with this slightly long post because it is one hell of an illustration of Israel-derangement syndrome in Ireland. An international conference of 'Special Envoys & Coordinators Combating Antisemitism' is currently taking place in Ireland. There was a reception for delegates this evening at the Department of Foreign Affairs. Maurice Cohen of the Irish Jewish Representative Council told the delegates and other guests that he had booked 70 rooms at the Herbert Park Hotel for delegates. But once the hotel discovered what the event was for, they cancelled the booking asking if the conference had a connection to the IDF. (It doesn't, and what a bizarre question to ask). How deeply ironic that this should happen to delegates attending a conference dedicated to fighting anti-Semitism. What this does say about today's Ireland? Nothing good. This story is eminently newsworthy. Journalists should contact Maurice Cohen. (The hotel should be sued). @Alan__Shatter @abrahamson_ed @RachelMoiselle

Don't cry, Baba. 😔💔
Hours before his execution, Alireza Raeisi was allowed one final phone call from Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. His father was crying on the line. So Alireza, with hours left to live, tried to comfort the man who raised him.
"What can I do, Baba. They want to take my whole life from me."
Then he asked for one last message:
"Say hello to my uncle. Tell him I'm looking after Ramin over there."
Ramin was his cousin. The son of that same uncle. He was shot dead in the streets of Isfahan during the protests. Now the regime has hanged the other one. At dawn. In secret.
This is what the Islamic Republic calls justice: 18 days of torture. Electric shocks. A forced confession. A trial lasting minutes. An appeal thrown out in less than 48 hours. A gallows built beside a Revolutionary Guard executioner.
They think the rope will end the uprising. The rope is only creating more anger towards society.
When I talk to any of the family members of those who are in prison on the death road, they have a simple demand: tel the world: #StopExecutionsInIran, demand accountability for these unlawful executions. Sanction the judges and executioners. Silence is complicity.

The EJC strongly condemns the award of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to Navi Pillay.
“Navi Pillay’s award of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize demeans this prestigious award, insults so many of the previous recipients who genuinely pursued the path of peace and does absolutely nothing to reward the path of those who reject war and violence.
Moreover it sends a chilling message to Jews around the world that our human rights do not count.
From leading the kangaroo court judgment that Israel committed a “genocide” by creating new definitions for this gravest of all accusations to defending her colleague on the three-person panel who stated that the ‘Jewish Lobby’ control social media and questioning whether Israel should be a member of the UN, Pillay has a long history of belittling or dismissing Jewish suffering and accusing Jewish organizations of weaponizing antisemitism.
She was also Secretary General of the Durban II Conference and stood idly by when then-Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad opened the conference with a tirade of Holocaust denial and rabid antisemitism.”
Announcing this honor just two days after Jews and Israelis marked the anniversary of October 7 deepens the wound. As families mourned those murdered, remembered the survivors of rape and brutality, and honoured lives shattered by Hamas, the Nobel Committee celebrated a figure whose record has left many Jews questioning whether their suffering receives equal recognition. Pillay could not find any formal words of condemnation for the barbarity and was already accusing Israel of crimes before a single Israeli foot had set foot in Gaza.
She refused to call Hamas a terrorist organization in her report and left that epithet just for Israel. She consistently refuses to see crimes against Jews. If this is what constitutes someone who purportedly seeks peace and deserves celebration, then it merely demonstrates that even the loftiest of awards has become merely another weapon with which to beat the Jewish people.
This award is a stain on the Nobel Prize Committee and on the conscience of the world and once again concludes that all are worthy of human rights and peace, except Jews.”

Navi Pillay has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. At this stage, I am not even surprised anymore. Disgusted, but not surprised.
Apparently, accuse Israel of the worst for decades and it will bring you glory.
Before the tributes overwhelm the facts, a few reminders - documented over the years by @UNWatch:
• Durban, 2009. Pillay championed the Durban Review Conference and criticized countries that boycotted it over concerns about antisemitism. She described opposition as a “highly organized campaign of disinformation.”
• BDS, 2017–2020. She publicly supported the BDS movement, expressing hope that it would spread like the campaign against South African apartheid. In 2020, she signed an appeal entitled “Sanction Apartheid Israel!” calling for sanctions and an end to military cooperation.
• Durban again, 2021. She accused Jews and Israel of having “ganged up together” to distort what happened at the 2001 conference.
• The “Jewish lobby,” 2022. Her fellow commissioner Miloon Kothari invoked a “Jewish lobby” in discussing control of social media and questioned Israel’s UN membership. Pillay defended him, saying his comments “seem to have deliberately been taken out of context.” Even the Human Rights Council’s president rejected her defense, warning that the remarks stigmatized Jewish people.
• Genocide, 2025. And then, of course, the commission she chaired concluded that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza.
Moral rot has taken hold of institutions we used to cherish. But if you think only Israel and Jews will pay the price, think again.
The very institutions you claim to protect are being stripped of their credibility. And those who want to see them disappear have every reason to celebrate.
