#OTD October 29, 1940: The U.S. government begins its first peacetime military draft in history. More than 11 million drafted men would go on to serve during World War II.

#OTD October 30, 1953 - General of the Army George C. Marshall, former Army Chief of Staff during all of World War II, and Secretary of State after Army service was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his design and implementation of the European Recovery Plan --- far better known as the Marshall Plan.

#OTD October 26, 1947 – After World War II, transport ships carried American war dead from the European and Pacific theaters returning 6,251 bodies. The fallen troops were returned to U.S. soil via the Brooklyn Army Terminal to be returned to their families. A procession later made its way through New York City. More than 400,000 New Yorkers lined the streets of Manhattan standing in silence to witness the procession.

#OTD October 27, 1943: The first group of 95 women Marine reservists reported for duty on the West Coast at Camp Pendleton, California. Their focus was to "Free a Man to Fight." Their functions included truck driving, administrative duties, telephone operators, work as mechanics.

#OTD October 27, 1952: U.S. Marine 2nd Lt. George H. O'Brien Jr.'s actions leading a four-hour assault to recapture a strategic hill known as "The Hook" during the Korean War led to him being awarded the Medal of Honor. He was later presented the Medal of Honor by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953.

The riots in France and Italy may one day be seen as battles in a culture war. European countries essentially softened themselves by allowing mass migration along with woke laws and policies and now the mob is moving forward with dismantling their governments while police standby watching. @mirandadevine is asking the right question.

Even as colleges see dwindling enrollment, growth of worthless programs is the hill they choose to defend by hook or crook.

This sort of thinking and acting by far left courts is having devastating effects in Europe. The left here are asking for the same trouble. Allowing the criminals to rule will result in ever increasing lawlessness.

Iran is intent on continuing their fight. They’re hoping for the elections in the west to result in weak leaders taking office.
