Graphene has been on the road for ten years. Most people have no idea. 🏎️ This is the BAC Mono. Single seat. Road legal. 570 kg. And graphene in every body panel. Here's the car that proved graphene composites work, and what it tells you about $HGRAF

THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE. DO YOUR OWN DDN It’s a pretty sweet looking car 🏎️

No @HydroGraphInc and @discovermono deal exists. This isn't that. It's a reminder that graphene composites aren't a lab promise. There's a 620 hp-per-tonne car driving around with them 🏁🏎️ HG's job is to be the graphene inside the next one. $HGRAF NFA DYOR #graphene #BACMono

Composites are HG's next big room, too. Nov 10 to 12 🗓️: HG is a sponsor at Carbon Fiber 2026 in Huntsville, alongside Hexcel and Toray. Same conversation BAC and Haydale started a decade ago: graphene in the resin, lighter stronger parts. $HGRAF

Geography helps too. 📍 HG's Tier 1 lab at the GEIC in Manchester is about 35 miles from BAC's factory in Liverpool. The whole UK graphene-composites supply chain, from Haydale to BAC to the GEIC, sits within an hour's drive of HG's UK lab. 🇬🇧 $HGRAF

And HG already has automotive hands on deck. 🔧 Its Integration Manager spent two years on surface materials at Polestar and a year at @McLarenAuto before joining HG this year. He runs HG's compounding partner programme and customer trials. $HGRAF

Less loading matters in a car factory. 🏭 Less graphene to disperse means fewer processing headaches, lower cost per part, and a material that behaves more like the resin the shop already knows. That's the difference between a show car and a production line. $HGRAF

Now the numbers. 🔢 Baker's "under 1%" line was the state of the art in 2019. HG's white paper claims results at 0.05 wt% in epoxy: +23.5% stiffness, +32% strength and +51% elongation, together. HG says that's 10 to 100x less loading than conventional graphene. $HGRAF

Built, not peeled. 🏗️ Flakes peeled from graphite vary in thickness and size. Treating the surface helps them bond to resin. It doesn't change what they are. HG's pitch is purity and consistency, batch after batch, which is why it works at a fraction of the loading. $HGRAF

The technical difference. 🔬 Haydale said it at its 2014 IPO: it "does not specialize in manufacturing bulk graphene." It treats graphite-derived nanoplatelets with plasma. HG makes graphene from scratch by detonating acetylene. 💥 99.8% carbon. No graphite involved. $HGRAF

Credit where it's due. 🙌 Haydale got graphene into a production car first, and it still holds the plasma IP. But in 2026 the two companies are moving in opposite directions. Haydale is diversifying away from graphene. HG raised C$70.4M in August to make more of it. $HGRAF

First half to March 2026 📊: revenue £2.25M, nearly all from the services firm it bought. Adjusted operating loss £1.16M. Cash £3.36M. It now calls itself a clean-technology group. The story is heating ink and cooling fluids, not car panels. $HGRAF kalkine.co.uk/news/technolog…

Where is Haydale now? 🔄 Dec 2025: it raised £6.4M at half a penny a share, taking its share count to about 7.9 billion, and bought an energy-efficiency services firm, SaveMoneyCutCarbon. Its own words: "de-emphasising the dependence on purely graphene." $HGRAF

So who is Haydale? 🤔 A Welsh firm from Ammanford, on London's AIM since 2014. Its core tech is HDPlas: a low-temperature plasma treatment that alters the surface of graphene flakes so they disperse and bond in resins. That treatment is what made the Mono panels work. $HGRAF

The graphene in the @discovermono BAC Mono is Haydale's, not HydroGraph's. Haydale is a competitor and a GEIC partner. What BAC proves is the category. ✅ A real carmaker put graphene composites into real cars, kept doing it, and customers paid up. $HGRAF

At the 2019 launch, the man explaining it on the BBC 📺 was James Baker, then head of GEIC at the time. His line: under 1% graphene in a resin can deliver a "double-digit benefit." Today, he sits on HydroGraph's Technical Advisory Board. $HGRAF manchester.ac.uk/about/news/…

2026: BAC's spec page now just calls them "world-leading graphene-infused carbon panels." Not a trial. Not a limited run. The standard car. One panel in 2016. Every panel in 2019. A line item by 2026. That's what adoption of a new material looks like. 🙌🏻 $HGRAF

2019: the Mono R. The first production car with graphene-enhanced carbon fibre in EVERY body panel. 🤩 345 hp from a naturally aspirated engine. 555 kg. 620 hp per tonne. 0 to 62 in 2.5 s. £190,950. @thatkidbigmike 30 cars. Sold out. 🔥 $HGRAF

2016: @discovermono & Welsh firm Haydale built the first graphene-enhanced carbon fibre body panels on a production car. They started with the rear wheel arches. Graphene in the resin made the part stronger, so they used less fibre. About 20% lighter. 🪶 $HGRAF
