Grateful to share that our paper has received the Honorable Mention Award at DIS'24. Leading this project has been a joy, inspired by my lived experiences as a woman from the Global South. I'll be in Copenhagen to present my work on July 5th.Let's catch up if you are attending!🧵
Our paper led by @AshaZavin and w/ #HelenAiHe and #EhudSharlin and titled "“Shotitwo First!": Unraveling Global South Women’s Challenges in Public Transport to Inform Autonomous Vehicle Design" has received the Honorable Mention Award at ACM DIS 2024.
This paper talks about women's transportation challenges and safety concerns in Bangladesh. Through a mixed-methods study, we explored how autonomous vehicles could enhance mobility for women by incorporating community-based and culturally contextual design solutions.
I am grateful to my co-authors, Dr. Helen Ai He and my advisors, Dr. Sharifa Sultana @SharifaSultana4 and Dr. Ehud Sharlin @EhudSharlin, for their immense support and guidance throughout the project. Congratulations to the team 🪅! Paper can be found here: programs.sigchi.org/dis/2024…

Excited to announce that I'll be attending @acm_chi 2024 in Hawaii! Grateful to be involved in two projects (1 paper and 1 LBW).
1. A project led by @rifatR2D2, we conducted a mixed-method study and built a VR tool to promote interfaith learning and empathy..🧵
2. A project led by Iryna Luchak, we conducted a VR study to investigate comfort levels with pods. The study identified various factors affecting comfort, including pod quantity, group formation, the presence of passengers, and the interaction of pedestrians with pods.
The system applied roleplaying and storytelling with participants from three communities—Christian, Hindu, and Muslim, yielding valuable insights to develop future systems addressing prejudices among faith-based groups. Congratulations to the team! programs.sigchi.org/chi/2024…
