Graphite: A soft, toothy drag like a 2B pencil. Best for sketching, shading, expressive strokes. Ballpoint: Feels like a smooth, gel pen glide with a subtle bite. Best for precise linework & neat notetaking.

Last year our cofounder and product designer @gdonelli started experimenting with prototypes to mimic graphite for Apple Pencil. He used a standard 2B pencil as our north star because of its familiar soft, toothy drag ✏️ Where we landed not only replicated the feeling of graphite, but also the look and sound of it too!

✅ Twice the tips: Every v4.0 kit now comes with 4 Apple Pencil tips (2 ballpoint and 2 graphite). ✅ New graphite feel: Mimics the soft, toothy drag of a 2B pencil, ideal for sketching and shading. ✅ Same nano-texture screen protector: Removable and reusable with static cling, feels like real paper.
