Astros have released OF Nelson Velázquez so that he can pursue an opportunity with a club in Asia.
From early today: Joey Loperfido (OF) had arthroscopic surgery on his right hip to address a labral injury and hip impingement that were identified shortly after the season ended. He won't be ready for the start of the spring.

According to @BNightengale, the #Astros interviewed veteran executive Mike Rizzo this Monday for the GM position (a role that has been vacant in Houston since the team fired Dana Brown in late August).
Rizzo won the 2019 World Series while leading the Nationals, defeating none other than Astros.

Wearing a Yuli Gurriel jersey for this game has its advantages.
Who cares about the World Series when there’s a game like this happening here at Daikin Park?

Clayton Thompson announces that he is joining the Astros from the Dodgers in the role of Assistant Director of Player Development.
Grateful for three years with the Dodgers, @DrivelineBB, @ZachDechant, and everyone who’s supported me.
Excited to join the Astros as the Assistant Director of Player Development, bringing together integrated player development and working with the best players in the world.

Milwaukee Brewers assistant GM Matt Kleine, who has been with the Brewers organization since 2007, has emerged as a serious candidate for the Houston Astros' GM vacancy.
Brewers vs. Rays wasn’t the World Series that radio and TV networks wanted, but it is the most fitting one of all.
Rarely do the best teams from each league make it to the final. Sound management prevailed over heavy investment.
It couldn’t be better.
Among all qualified relief pitchers in baseball over the last 5 seasons, Bryan Abreu ranks:
Games: 341 (3rd)
Innings: 344.1 (2nd)
Total Batters Faced: 1424 (2nd)
Holds: 111 (2nd)
Strikeouts: 476 (1st)
During that stretch, opponents are batting .196 against him, has a 2.56 ERA, and he not visited the IL.

Ya está, se emocionó y nos costó”
