📰 Good news for Atlético! ‼️
✅ Johnny Cardoso has returned to training with the group. 🔴⚪️
This is so cool from @nicsginthings
Only suggestion would be a “neither” option for Le Normand and Sørloth.
hi friends !!! i made a little player sorter for funsies. just choose your fave of the 2 until it calculates your full ranking. so far i've built it for atleti, barça, arsenal, and bayern. and there are themes based on each team's kits !!

🚨 EXPOSED! 🚨
Bayern Munich come to the Metropolitano and leave with a convincing 2-0 victory.
Atlético struggled to cope with the pressure, made costly mistakes and failed to find

This sucks. The match against Barca just became a whole lot harder.
When you bring in Cuti, you know you’re getting one of the best central defenders in the world, but his injury history comes with the territory.
Romero’s absence is felt not only because of what Atlético lose without him, but because of the drop-off to his replacement, Robin Le Normand.
💣🚨 MAJOR BREAKING: Cuti Romero is INJURED and will miss the game against Barça.
@marca
Here are my takeaways on @intothecalderon from last night’s poor showing against Bayern.
Robin Le Normand was the difference maker, but ultimately Atleti just weren’t effective in attack.

Expanding upon this:
Atlético de Madrid have conceded 13 goals in 15 matches across all competitions this season. Robin Le Normand has directly contributed to conceding 4 of those 13 goals or ~31%.
- penalty vs Villarreal
- penalty vs Alaves
- set piece against Real Madrid
- tonight's giveaway against Bayern
He simply cannot see any more minutes this season. Give Jorge Domínguez or Dani Martínez a shot instead.
Marcos hits the nail on the head here. Any type of morale or momentum was lost after Le Normand made that critical error.
Sure, Le Normand is a liability and shouldn’t be on the field, but the larger issue I see with this is how easily and quickly Atleti lost their focus and nerve, especially at home.
🇪🇸🔴⚪️ Marcos Llorente: "We weren’t expecting the first goal, and it was a real cold shower. After that, things became difficult for us. those kinds of mistakes really hurt because it wasn’t a goal they earned through their play, it was something that came from our own mistake. That’s what makes it so frustrating.
The team was putting in an enormous effort. Everyone was running so much, but in the end, it came down to those small details, not being calmer in the final third, not being more aggressive in attack, and not getting enough players into the box.
But it’s just one game. We have to keep going, and now we’ve got another important match coming up this weekend."

Shut down Atleti’s right side & they look toothless. We saw it vs Arsenal in the first leg last season & on several occasions this season.
Johnny’s injury has had a far greater impact on Atleti's in-possession game than expected. Grimaldo lacks the same freedom without him.
1/2
Atleti's unbeaten streak is over at 9 matches following a very poor showing tonight against Bayern. The defense seemed to unravel and not be able to recover following the mental error from Le Normand. Fair play to Bayern, they were far and away the better side.
Atlético fall to 22nd in the group stage and have achieved four points from four matches in the Champions League this season.
Simeone will need to quickly regroup as Barcelona await on Sunday.
Konrad Laimer hammers home a second goal for Bayern, as the Atleti defense is unraveling.
Very poor performance from Atleti tonight.
A calamity of a defensive error from Robin Le Normand leads to a Bayern Munich goal. Awful.
Le Normand simply cannot play serious minutes for this club any longer.
Atlético have been fine defensively, but frankly are fortunate to be tied at half.
They looked very much alive in this match for the first five minutes featuring Julián's big chance, but not much more to write home about outside of that.
Attacking wise, there's a lot missing and I think some half time substitutions are required. Would like to see Kang-In and Lookman come on.
Well … hate being right, Robin Le Normand starts, as expected. Looks to be a 4-4-2 with Simeone and Baena as your wingers.
Really interesting that Sørloth gets his first start of the season against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Simeone’s substitutions are going to be key tonight.
