Today we announced we’ll be deprecating non-last-click rules-based attribution models, which includes first-click, linear, positioned based & time decay, in Google Ads & GA4.
Data-driven attribution (DDA) is recommended & last-click will remain available.
More on why & timing:
Pop culture hacks. Type the name of your craft followed by “memes” into Google to get a list of the most common problems and pitfalls facing your industry.

GA4 just launched dynamic lookbacks for audiences.
This allows you to use the event_count metric to power many use cases around activity (or inactivity). Lots of opportunities to use these to do bid-adjustments in Google Ads.
Starting to get to the point where, if you send me a Calendarly or booking tool to book our meeting, I’m not coming.
I have been waiting for this…

@Amplitude_HQ is moving into marketing analytics in a big way. They just launched a variety of new features to enable campaign performance and attribution.
The most effective attribution focuses first on what to cut - not what to optimise for. Reduce the noise that goes in and get greater clarity out.
Yes. Non-linear funnels. Ripe markets of customers with clear unmet needs and customers we try to convince. That billboard might generate a first and last touch MTA via a direct source (or paid search if they Googled). “Brand” vs “Performance” isn’t always the right mental model.
I am actively trying to catch myself when my internal talk postures “I’m not creative” or “I’m not technical”. I’m trying to now say “You might not be feeling that way right now and your ego is trying to save you. Lean in.”
Same as Facey/Meta. Yet another push to get out of static reporting and into platform (rolling attribution windows).

If you pull data out of GA4, note that attribution can change for 7 days after the conversion.
If you're pulling the most recent week refreshing that data later can produce different results

Why you should give Google Analytics 4 a chance via @kristaseiden searchengineland.com/give-ga…
Some people are charitable and inherently good. This is awesome.

2) Add the service account created in step 1 to your GA accounts
3) Connect the health_checkup table in BigQuery to Data Studio and create a report. Here's an example:
Yep. PSA. Multi touch attribution (MTA) is distracting you. Stop measuring a portion of the whole with a false sense of confidence in a metric masking as intent based. Just because you can track it doesn’t mean it mattered. #attribution

If I channeled every minute I spent each day doubting myself into something more productive, I’d have less self doubt and probably some kinda empire. #irony
How do I become a full time professional data ponderer?
Asking for a friend.
Just as I say how much I hate that Martech is full of language no one understands I immediately feel compelled to own the rights to “dialectic attribution”. Which should be the only form of attribution. Seemingly conflicting ideas that are all equally true 💡
Ok. I really hate (most) analytics tech. If you’re solving no-code analytics for marketers, make it EASY. Clear sample interpretations, construct impeccable visualisations that use AI to focus on insights & niche down industry first until the model/OOTB integrations are right.
Why isn’t @Google working on defining and translating all the bloody martech businesses who like to call their features something unique. Currently watching a walkthrough of an attribution platform calling their model “Everytouch”. Everyone knows Multi-Touch. Just… why…? Stop.
