One of my missions in life has always been to help people, especially kids. I grew up without either parent. As a teenager, I bounced from couch to couch with friends and, at times, had nowhere to call home. During those years, I made a promise to myself: if I ever found myself in a position to help others, I would. To be a source of support when someone needs it. To lead with love and compassion. To help create opportunities for kids who may not have been dealt the easiest hand. As I’ve gotten older, that promise has never left me. If anything, it’s become a bigger part of who I want to be and the impact I want to leave behind. My legacy won’t be defined by the companies I founded, how much money I made, or the things I was able to accumulate. It will be defined by the lives I touched, the opportunities I helped create, and the people who felt supported because I chose to show up for them. I hope my story reminds someone that where you come from does not have to determine where you’re going. The challenges you face can shape you without defining you, and even the smallest act of kindness can change someone’s life. We all have the ability to make a difference, and sometimes simply choosing to show up for others is where that difference begins.
