NEW: For the 1st time in decades, after @thestate started investigating Charles River Labs in Feb '21, the company & its harvesters will face climbing restrictions to the bleeding process in South Carolina. So the company has moved north for more blood: tinyurl.com/yr7rvd8w

This graphic shows how horseshoe crab harvest has contributed to the decline in the # of red knots able to survive migration. Red knot populations were stronger when the haul was under 500 metric tons. As the haul increased in the 90s, red knot numbers decreased in the 2000s.

An unforgettable experience seeing this Snowy Owl in Central Park today. Love its feathery feet. Shots capture one of the many times it was being harassed by a Red-Tailed Hawk. Many thanks to ⁦@BirdCentralPark⁩ for the alert. 💜🦉#birdcp
