Thereโ€™s an interesting irony in this. Perhaps Victorian voters have finally reached the point where theyโ€™ve had enough turmoil. After years of Labor govt, they want change, but not at the expense of creating even more instability. They want adults running the show, even if the leader happens to be young. And perhaps thatโ€™s the distinction. They want a credible alternative, not simply another group of angry wreckers promising to tear everything down. The Liberals & Nationals have put their ideological battles aside to unite behind Jess Wilson, offering dissatisfied voters an alternative to the incumbent govt. But the most revealing finding is that 78% of Coalition & One Nation voters surveyed prioritised having a strong new govt over shaking up the political system. Even among One Nation supporters, that figure was 71%. That suggests something rather important. Dissatisfaction with the political establishment doesnโ€™t necessarily mean voters want to destroy the institutions that underpin it. They may simply want those institutions to function better, with experienced leadership capable of delivering results. Thereโ€™s still a long way to go in Victoria, but perhaps voters are beginning to distinguish between change for the sake of change & change that offers the prospect of better govt. Sadly, federally, that distinction seems considerably harder to achieve. And perhaps thatโ€™s the real lesson. People can be thoroughly disillusioned with those governing them without having lost faith in the system of govt itself. Because thatโ€™s what understanding the importance of a functioning govt means. Recognising that the answer to poor governance is better governance, not the destruction of the institutions that make it possible. Destroying the joint doesnโ€™t fix whatโ€™s broken. It simply leaves you with even more to rebuild. theaustralian.com.au/commentโ€ฆ via @australian

Liberal senator @SenSHenderson asked department officials on Monday about a limited tender, lodged in August, for hotel, lodging and meeting facilities worth $682,000. International climate negotiations division head Sally Box said the events were UNFCCC-mandated โ€œto support the facilitation of negotiations in our role as president of negotiationsโ€. $700,000 for a gabfest. I wonder how many more will hit the headlines before the global gabfest .. and well done to Sarah Henderson she is relentless in estimates..

After thousands of people turned up to Victoria Barracks to protest its proposed sale, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was asked during Question Time today if the site remains on the market. He confirmed that it is. There is little doubt among critics that he and his superannuation-backed Labor colleagues are heavily invested in pushing this sale through. What a disgrace.

You distributed a dirt file on her. You spread hatred of your enemies on state funded media and social media. And now youโ€™re blaming social media so you can censor it.
Huh. A "dirt sheet" sure looks a lot like "hate speech." @AlboMP wouldn't want to have to censor that kind of thing now would he

Bondi Rescue's depiction of Australia's amazing beach culture used to make viewers want to visit the place. Now it just warns them to stay away because the beach is crawling with creeps from Third World sh**holes either touching up girls or, worse, shooting Jews. Australia has become a laughing stock.

The Labor Party knows theyโ€™ve lost control of the narrative. For years, they treated Twitter like a closed shop. @elonmusk changed the game when he purchased the platform and turned it into X, even forcing Mark Zuckerberg to ease up on censorship. Now, the Left has nowhere left to dictate the conversation. They tried migrating to Bluesky, but it failed to get any real traction. Watching Question Time today, itโ€™s clear they are completely rattled. Sucked in. X isn't going anywhere.
