Join us live at 9:30 am for October's #Audit & Finance Committee, where we will present our draft audit plan for 2027 and brief on the Living Wages Audit, which looks at whether departments are monitoring their contracts to ensure compliance with the living wage requirements.
More than half of the employees in our sample were paid above $25 per hour. #livingwage #AustinTx
The City’s training & guidance for the Living Wage Program are limited. The only training provided to staff is one part of an overall purchasing refresher training, which is high-level & focuses on program updates & not on how to apply monitoring procedures.
Contract managers did not consistently collect the required Program documentation or perform randomized spot checks. Even if the City consistently collected these forms, the forms rely on the contractor's and employees’ attestation, as opposed to verifying employees’ pay.
We found that monitoring of the City’s Living Wage Program is inconsistent due to insufficient training and guidance. #auditatx
The Living Wage Program was created in 2016 by the City of Austin to establish a minimum wage for contracted non-construction employees.
The next item being taken up is a briefing on social services strategy from the Austin Budget and Organizational Excellence.
This is the non-profit performance management report that Mayor Watson just discussed: austin.widen.net/s/n8dg7zzjh…
