Humanoid robots don’t need muscle memory. Humans need thousands of reps to make a physical skill automatic. Robots can learn the skill once, turn it into software, then deploy it across the entire fleet. Physical experience becomes copy/paste.

Humans are now the bottleneck. AI can generate, analyze, build, test, and iterate faster than ever. The bottleneck is shifting. It’s no longer the technology. It’s humans reviewing, approving, deciding, and keeping up.

AI agents don’t need 401(k)s, stock options, health insurance, PTO, promotions, or retirement plans. That’s not just a productivity advantage. It fundamentally changes the economics of “hiring.”

New Airtable Automation Trigger: When a field changes
100
NEW for @Airtable: 15 updates covering automations, interfaces, editing & navigation, and a number of them retire the workarounds you probably built yourself. Info: community.airtable.com/annou…

Frictionless Editing 9. Bulk download attachments: Download every file (or version) in an attachment cell in one click, instead of one at a time. 10. Arrow and Tab keys work in expanded cells again: You can once more move between cells with the arrow and Tab keys while a cell is enlarged in Grid view — restoring fast data entry and review. 11. Tab and arrow keys advance in linked-record cells: Create or search a linked record inline, and use Tab and arrow keys to move focus to the next field again — allowing you to link customer → product in one pass. 12. Full-screen formula editor: Expand long formulas into a full-screen editing box instead of working within the 2-3 line field. It works just like the full-screen prompt box in Field Agents.

Easier Navigation 13. Search shared interfaces by base name: Search the Quick switcher for interfaces shared with you by their base name, even if you don’t have access to the base or workspace. 14. Find a page using its link: Paste a page's link into search to jump straight to it. Handy when you're working across multiple accounts. 15. Multi-select when creating a token: When you create a token in Builder Hub, the scope picker now stays open so you can select several scopes in one pass, instead of reopening per scope.

AI will always be infinitely smarter and more capable than you, accept that.

Going live with a new automation on a Friday is usually bad practice. If something breaks, you have: Fewer people available Slower responses Less time to monitor A longer window for bad data to pile up Launch earlier in the week. Give the automation time to fail while everyone is still around to fix it.

Now that @Airtable has increased Automation limits for each plan (thank you!) there needs to be more features and functionality added to troubleshoot and triage automation runs. - Run history analytics - Run history unified across automations - Run history search

Ways I (still) wish @Airtable would improve Automations... - Search Run History (e.g. search for term) - Unified View of Run History across Automations - In Run History, rerun failed runs using current config (useful after making a fix) - Add Action: Delay (e.g. wait N seconds) - For 'Find Record' steps, add "View + Condition" option (e.g. find records in View that match conditions) - 'Schedule' trigger with more controls (e.g. select multiple times in list) - 'Webhook' trigger to include received query string parameters and headers - In Conditional Logic, drag to reorder Groups - In Conditional Logic, setting for all matching Groups to Run (not just the first) - Dashboard of Analytics (usage by automation/day, etc.) - 'Expand/Collapse All' Sections in the Automation List
Ways I wish @Airtable would improve Automations... What would you add? - Search the Automation List - 'Expand/Collapse All' Sections in the Automation List - Search Run History - Filter Run History by Date - In Run History, Rerun Failed Automations in current configuration - View Run History across Automations - Add 'Delay' step - Add 'Delete Record' step - For 'Find Record' steps, include "View + Condition" option to search by - Show 'Activity Log' for changes to an automation (e.g. create/updated timestamp, version, user) - 'Schedule' trigger with more controls (e.g. select multiple times in list) - 'Webhook' trigger to include received query string parameters and headers - Drag to reorder Groups in Conditional Logic - In Conditional Logic, setting for all matching Groups to Run (not just the first) - Dashboard of Analytics (usage by automation/day, etc.)

2026 was the year.
Will this be the year that @Airtable adds a "Delete Record" action for automations? (Without the user having to configure a Run Script action)

Imagine if AI still sucked at coding.

Is “code freeze” still a thing in the age of AI? AI makes code faster to write, test, review, and fix. Maybe the future isn’t code freeze. It’s risk freeze. Keep shipping changes, as long as they can be safely validated and rolled back.
