LA County has committed to de-prioritizing animal-based foods and creating a GHG tracker for their food purchases! As the biggest county in the US with a $21m food budget, this is huge!

David Rooney, @Automotricity, is a PhD Candidate in the University of Texas at Austin's Department of Communication Studies where they research environmental communication and critical/ cultural studies.

Just wrapped up a project where 1500 West Coast citizens *overwhelmingly* embraced a hypothetical legislation for their city/county govt to prioritize plant-based foods when purchasing for hospitals/schools/events, etc.
This research is being used to draft a bill in LA County!
Really exciting and important to see residents cite concerns around animal-products, climate change and racial health disparities as motivating factors.
