Art is open to critique. However, how something is said matters just as much as what is being said. Wrapping critique in cruelty, hostility, and condescension, rather than respect, tact, and care, signals that the critic has no true substance behind their views.

"They should get REAL THEATER actors for these games instead of anime actors" idk how to tell you this, but majority of actors in the industry come from a theater background, they are being told to act closely with the original languages performance, so it's going to sound like the original languages performance... and that doesn't mean it's bad either, if you can understand Japanese you'll find that a lot of the Japanese performances come off as goofy and over the top as well, these are some incredibly talented actors and actresses in this industry, and writing them off because they were following direction is super disingenuous.

I’ve seen this for years. There are people who fly into a frothing rage whenever they hear English voice acting no matter what the quality is. It’s just another variation of the sub elitism we’ve seen for decades. There’s nothing wrong with this performance and it’s pointless to act offended when it’s not actually a bad performance. If you hate English voice acting this much you can change the dub to the Japanese.

Yuri Lowenthal is one of the most beloved voice actors of the generation, yet there are moments when he yells that exactly sound like the breaking bad meme dub clip. Yet I’ve never seen anyone use him as an example in “bad modern voice acting”
