Our crews are on the ground, safely restoring service in neighborhoods impacted by recent wildfires. To get your natural gas back on, an Avista employee must visit your home when an adult is present, inspect your equipment and manually relight your appliances. If we are unable to reach you during a restoration visit, we'll leave a door tag with instructions for next steps. For your safety, please don't attempt to restore natural gas service or relight appliances yourself.

Our crews continue to make progress each day on repairing damaged poles, wires and other equipment. As we work on natural gas and electric systems, we're inspired by those who are fighting wildfires, providing safe shelter for people who lost their homes and providing countless other resources. We're thankful for the first responders, community action partners, government agencies and so many others who are dedicated to serving our communities.

These photos show some of what our crews and contractors have seen in the Spokane area over the last few days as they repair damaged electric and natural gas infrastructure. Our hearts are with everyone affected — those who have lost homes, those still waiting for power to be restored and all those facing uncertainty right now. We'll continue working around the clock to support response and recovery efforts.

The devastation from recent Spokane-area wildfires is heartbreaking. Many people are anxious to return home and may be wondering whether power will be on when they get there. Some members of our community don't have homes to return to. Our crews are continuing to repair damaged electric poles, wires and other equipment across Eastern Washington. Some places, including areas near the Autumn Lake fire, are still too dangerous for our teams to safely access. That means some customers may be without power longer while we wait for safety conditions to improve. Thank you to our contractors, community responders, public agencies and everyone helping with the response to this historic catastrophe. And to our customers: thank you for your continued patience and support as we work around the clock to make repairs safely.

Our crews are making progress repairing wildfire-damaged equipment in areas where customers are still without power.  Until recently it was too dangerous to safely access some locations, but due to improving fire conditions and thanks to the hard work of first responders, crews are reaching more areas to assess damage and begin repairs.  Transmission lines, the large power lines that carry electricity long distances, and distribution lines, what you typically see in your neighborhood, were significantly damaged in some areas. As these photos from near Spokane show, repairs like these take longer than other outage types, but our crews are working around the clock across impacted areas to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.  We'll continue sharing updates as we have new information.   Thank you for your patience, understanding and support as this work continues.

⚠️Public safety power shutoff planned today for select areas. Due to elevated wildfire risk, we plan to turn off power in select areas. A public safety power shutoff helps reduce wildfire risk and protect customers and communities. Affected customers will receive direct updates from us. Power will remain off until weather conditions improve and crews can safely patrol power lines and equipment. Depending on conditions and needed repairs, outages may last more than 24 hours. Please prepare for an extended outage, including considering the needs of pets and livestock. For the most up-to-date PSPS location information, visit myavista.com/outage.

When wildfire conditions become hazardous, like those that may develop this weekend, we may proactively implement a public safety power shutoff to help reduce the risk of wildfire. Myavista.com/psps
