🇵🇱 A major political crisis is unfolding in Poland — here's what's happening
A fierce battle over the Constitutional Tribunal is underway. Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska announced the suspension of its president, Bogdan Święczkowski, and his deputy. The ousted president then reportedly tried to enter the building with representatives of right-wing opposition parties, using a crowbar and an angle grinder.
Later, President Karol Nawrocki joined the confrontation after turning his plane around and cancelling a visit to Senegal.
The Polish president, who took part in mass fights between football hooligans in his youth, forced his way into the Tribunal building with his security team, pushing aside even the court's new acting head, Judge Korwin-Piotrowska.
The opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party called the events an attempted coup d'état.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk, meanwhile, said he was restoring the rule of law after years of abuses by the previous government.
The dispute over judicial appointments has been going on for a decade, dating back to when the then-ruling coalition led by Jarosław Kaczyński's party attempted to introduce reforms that drew fierce criticism both in Poland and across the EU.

Account: Nicholas Lissack (@NicholasLissack).
Type: Delegitimization and inflammatory political influence messaging. The post presents allegations of a coup, treason, and foreign direction as facts, then demands the elected prime minister’s removal.
Based in: United Kingdom, according to his publicly listed profile. Foreign-state affiliation is not established.
Target: Poland, particularly Donald Tusk, and public trust in the European Union.
Lie: Lissack asserts that Tusk committed “treason on behalf of the EU” without substantiating either treason or EU direction. He also recasts a dispute over the Constitutional Tribunal’s leadership as a coup against President Nawrocki, whose presidency was not removed.
Purpose: The explicit objective is Tusk’s removal. The message encourages readers to view political opponents as traitors serving a foreign power, escalating a constitutional dispute into an existential national threat. Whether that serves a coordinated campaign remains unverified.
Reality: Police deployment and the suspension of tribunal leadership were real; their legality was contested. A contested intervention is not proof of a coup, and political alignment with the EU is not evidence of treason.

Within the next 24 hours you will see narratives from right wing assets pushing in support for the PiS, they will share fakes and try to incite disorder in Poland, do not let them.
Hostile foreign networks are organising; stay calm & stay informed, you're stronger.

In Poland, Prime Minister Donald Tusk is showing the world how to fight right wing terrorists.
PiS is Poland’s MAGA and we all must support PM Donald Tusk - and the USA’s Democrats need to take note on how to restore law, order, respect and democracy.

Fight back against disinformation: it is not a coup d'état.
The attack dogs of pro-Russian, pro-MAGA and anti-EU propaganda are in full force over what is happening in Poland, portraying the PiS camp as the victim of a supposed coup.
How convenient.
Let’s remember who started this.
In 2015, PiS began dismantling Poland’s rule of law, unlawfully filling seats on the Constitutional Tribunal and bringing key judicial institutions under political influence.
For eight years, they undermined the very democratic safeguards they now claim to defend.
They lost power in 2023, but their grip on parts of the state survived. Now, as Donald Tusk’s government attempts to restore judicial independence, the same political camp cries dictatorship and presents itself as the victim.
You cannot spend eight years undermining the rule of law and then invoke it as a shield against accountability.
Poland’s democratic institutions belong to its citizens, not to a political party determined to retain power after losing an election.
Restoring the rule of law is not a coup. It is a democratic responsibility. And it must be carried out in accordance with the Constitution.

In April-May 1940 nearly 22,000 Polish officers etc were excecuted by the Soviet union in Katyn forest.
They were killed with a shot in the head while hands tied behind their back.
Soviet leaders insisted for decades that the Polish officers had been killed by the invading Germans.
But in 1990 the Soviets finally admitted their culpability.
