A Tanzanian activist and human rights defender, Twaha Salim Mwaipaya, was reported abducted in Kamulu, Kenya, on October 25, 2026.
His whereabouts remain unknown. Mwaipaya had sought refuge in Kenya after he reported torture and threats linked to his activism in Tanzania.

The Linda Mwananchi Movement has condemned the reported abduction of Tanzanian opposition activist Twaha Mwaipaya in Kamulu, Machakos County, demanding that Kenyan authorities disclose his whereabouts and ensure his safety.
In a statement issued in Nairobi on Monday, October 26, 2026, the movement said Mwaipaya was abducted on Sunday by individuals travelling in three vehicles while he was in a taxi.
