In Japan, tensions over immigration are escalating rapidly.
A newly elected mayor was found hanged from a floodgate in a drainage canal. Police quickly ruled it a likely suicide. But the circumstances sparked massive online speculation and conspiracy theories linking it to his supposed stance on foreign labor — theories that mainstream media later labeled as misinformation.
Separately, a prefectural governor publicly stated that he wants to prevent “Japanese First” sentiments (and exclusionism) in advance while expanding acceptance of foreigners.
These are not isolated cases. Across Japan, debates over foreign residents, labor, and cultural cohesion are intensifying, with officials, media, and social media amplifying extremes on both sides.
When a country starts treating “prioritizing its own people” as something that must be actively blocked, while suspicious deaths of local leaders get dismissed without full scrutiny, it is a warning sign.
Japan is not immune to the same fractures seen in Europe and elsewhere. Ignoring this trajectory is not neutrality — it is negligence.
Protecting social trust and national cohesion should never be framed as extremism.

They hovered over submerged rooftops, pulling shivering mothers and babies out of the black water.
When Japanese refugees were brought aboard shivering in shock, your sailors gave up their own warm bunks and slept on the cold steel floor.
While the rest of the world ran away from Japan,
AMERICA CHARGED STRAIGHT INTO THE FIRE.
You didn't do it for a treaty.
You didn't do it for politicians.
You saw your friend bleeding, and you kicked the doors down to save us.
