The late, great Tony Gwynn gave @YonderalonsoU an invaluable piece of hitting advice in a fashion that only Mr. Padre could...

Albert Pujols talking hitting and referencing what Tony Gwynn always preached: "swing the knob, not the barrel"
People often forget that one of Albert Pujols’ idols was Tony Gwynn. During Pujols’ first All-Star Game — which also happened to be Gwynn’s last—Albert expressed his deep admiration and respect for Tony. Pujols has mentioned on several occasions that Gwynn’s 1990s hitting clinic video played a significant role in shaping his approach at the plate.
A legend," Pujols said. "Just an unbelievable hitter. But I think for me, he [Gwynn] was a better person, with everything that he accomplished in the game vs. off the field. What he's done, and what he did through his career in San Diego, it speaks for itself."
I'm sold on him either being the Padres new hitting coach or the Padres' new manager.

@JimRussellSD @jonschaeffer @JonAndJim I'm not necessarily against the Padres bringing back O'Hearn but its worth mentioning his 2 month OPS as a Padre was ~.740 and he hit 4 total homers in 2 months (1 in September). Great off-season coverage keep up the good work

Could really have affected the outcome of the Padres entire season. Bases loaded with no outs would have scored at least one run on the Cronenworth groundout and potentially tied it on the Fermin fly out.
@TooMuchMortons_ time to talk who I don't or won't be back next year. Have a look at my pinned post because I did this back in 2023.

This Sunday will mark 10 years since Tony Gwynn’s tragic passing. His resounding legacy is still felt on the field in so many ways, from his revolutionary approach to hitting, to the players he impacted, to the kindness he exuded.
