🚨Philadelphia jury delivers major win for ExxonMobil in gasoline-leukemia case
A Philadelphia jury has rejected claims that gasoline and other automotive products caused a man’s leukemia, handing ExxonMobil a clear victory that stands in sharp contrast to a recent $725 million verdict against the company in a similar case that the Superior Court recently upheld on procedural grounds.
Key points from the Oct. 13 verdict in the Leon and Ruth Mazza lawsuit:
◾️Jurors found ExxonMobil’s benzene-containing gasoline was not defectively designed.
◾️The jury concluded the company did not intentionally conceal the dangers of benzene, even while finding the gasoline lacked an adequate benzene warning.
◾️Plaintiffs (represented by the same Locks Law Firm as in the earlier Gill case) argued there is no safe level of benzene exposure and pointed to the International Agency for Research on Cancer’s reclassification of gasoline as carcinogenic to humans; the jury was not persuaded that these products caused Mazza’s leukemia.
◾️Mazza’s alleged exposures came from work at a Wyndmoor Exxon station, a body shop, landscaping businesses (1970–2020), plus personal use of benzene-containing products in his drag-racing hobby; he was diagnosed in 2022.
◾️The result undercuts the narrative from the Gill case, where a juror later blogged about the “best feeling ever” of seeing Exxon lawyers look like they “were going to puke,” and business groups had warned that such nuclear verdicts raise costs for everyone.
This defense win arrives just days after the Superior Court upheld the massive Gill judgment (largely on procedural grounds rather than a deep dive into the disputed science) and amid broader pushback against IARC-driven claims, including federal efforts to limit the agency’s influence.
For ExxonMobil and the industry, it shows that not every benzene-exposure lawsuit ends in a blockbuster plaintiff verdict. Juries can and do reject the “gasoline causes cancer” theory when the evidence doesn’t support it.

🇺🇸⚡ An LNG exporter is building its own power grid, and selling the spare to AI
Venture Global has signed frame agreements with GE Vernova and Baker Hughes for up to 16 new 720MW power units.
11.5GW of gas-fired generation, off the public grid.
⚙️ The power will run its LNG plants, and the company plans to offer up to 10GW of capacity for data centers on land it owns.
📈 Venture Global already has gas, pipelines and land on the US Gulf Coast.
AI developers like Oracle are waiting months for a single pipeline.
Owning both the molecules and the power plant cuts that wait.
⚠️ There are two consequences.
More US gas gets burned at home, competing with LNG exports and it locks up turbines that are already reported sold out into 2030–31, leaving fewer for utilities.

Isn’t that quite telling? Nvidia’s market cap sits above the entire UK equity market, Microsoft’s above France and Germany. A few American companies now outweigh the entire stock markets of major European states.
Europe still trains strong engineers and scientists. What systematically discourages growth and innovation is the business environment. Layered regulation, data rules, the AI Act, sector-specific mandates, and slow permitting raise the fixed cost of trying anything large. High marginal taxes and repeated calls for wealth or “excess profit” levies shift capital from investment and innovation toward preservation and exit. A redistribution-first instinct treats outsized returns as a problem to be corrected rather than evidence that customers valued what was built.
Founders and capital notice, they incorporate, innovate, and hire where upside is allowed to compound, not punished by overregulation and taxation. The chart is the cumulative result of those choices, not a one-off accident of the last business cycle.
The AI revolution will only widen the gap between the US and Europe, which will become an open-air museum for wealthy Americans and Asians.

T-Mobile spent five years trying to get rid of the exact spectrum Elon just called "the last critical piece" of complete phone coverage in America.
This 800 MHz block is Sprint's old Nextel spectrum, the stuff that powered push-to-talk walkie-talkie phones in 2004. The DOJ forced T-Mobile to divest it as a condition of the $26 billion Sprint merger. Dish had first rights at $3.59 billion and walked away because it couldn't raise the money. T-Mobile finally offloaded it to an investment firm called Grain Management last year for $2.9 billion plus a spectrum swap.
Grain's original plan was selling it to utilities for private networks.
Fourteen months later, SpaceX buys the whole portfolio, and shares of the carriers who passed on it fall as much as 8% in a single afternoon.
Here's why it matters so much. Starlink's satellite signal at 2 GHz can reach your phone outdoors, but it dies at the first wall. 800 MHz penetrates buildings. Most phones already have the band built in. So satellites handle the open sky, this low-band layer handles indoors, and suddenly Starlink Mobile covers everywhere a normal carrier does without the tower network.
Stack the moves. $17 billion for EchoStar's 50 MHz of 2 GHz spectrum. FCC approval for 15,000 Gen2 satellites this week. Now the low-band coverage layer.
Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile paid $81 billion in a single auction for C-band spectrum in 2021, then spent years and tens of billions more deploying it on towers. SpaceX assembled a nationwide carrier out of a distressed-asset sale, a forced divestiture castoff, and rockets it already owns.
The walkie-talkie spectrum from 2004 ended up being the piece that lets satellites replace cell towers. Nobody who touched it for twenty years saw that coming.
We announced an agreement to acquire a nationwide low-band spectrum license portfolio that will pave the way for @Starlink to become a major mobile carrier in the US.
With this new spectrum and our Gen2 constellation, Starlink Mobile can ensure Americans have access to high-speed mobile broadband no matter where they are → spacex.com/updates#starlink-…
