I remember seeing Marcus working at Bi-Lo on Bees Ferry Road. Always a smile. Loved helping customers. An innocent, sweet soul with a big heart. May he rest in peace. ā¤ļø
Iām beyond saddened to hear the news of Marcus Kronickās passing. Marcus WAS sports in this town. He loved CofC. He loved The Stingrays. He loved the Riverdogs. He loved his alma mater, UAB. He was my company on so many hundreds of afternoons and evenings at Patriots Point. At the Coliseum. At TD Arena. At Joe Riley Park. He was iconic. His knowledge of Charleston sports was unsurpassed. But more, he was simply a good person. A caring soul. He laughed. He thought every pick off was a balk. He knew statistics and baseball cards more than anybody I know. He sat and told me story after story after story. They really are the soundtrack of so many years of covering games across town. I remember he was so missed during Covid, CofC coaches purchased a Marcus cutout to place in the seats. We chatted about every Jewish holiday and Jewish athlete known to man. I remember tearing up I was laughing so hard when he was yelling about a certain player hitting a home run on Passover and that he was āfueled by matzahā He didnāt lose a sports argument. No last name was ever needed. In lowcountry sports, he was simply- Marcus. Ask any coach who has patrolled our sidelines, dugouts or benches. Theyāll know the voice. Itāll be missed so dearly. May his memory be a blessing.

Sam Rickman played bass beside Mica Miller nearly every Sunday for years, watched her marriage to pastor John Paul "JP" Miller unravel from the inside, and was at Solid Rock church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina when JP delivered the announcement of her death to their congregation in April 2024.
He has never fully told his story ā until now.
In this episode of Criminally Obsessed, investigative reporter Anne Emerson speaks with Rickman, who describes the moment he learned Mica was gone: locked out of JP's office, told by a church staffer that Mica had shot herself through a crude gesture, and then feeling forced to perform a second worship set that same morning while grieving in silence. Rickman says JP told the band Mica's death would "blow over in two weeks" ā a comment he says confirmed his suspicion that JP never loved her at all.
Rickman also lays out why he doesn't believe Mica died by suicide, an odd request JP Miller made days before she died, and explains why he thinks the truth is still coming.

A homeowner tells me that this occurred in his neighborhood (Carnes Crossroads) - Goose Creek over the weekend. Goose Creek Police found an American flag and attached pole that had blown away after a crazy, wild storm on Saturday evening.Ā He mentioned that they had 60 mph winds and torrential downpours.Ā He provided ring camera footage of one of the officers retrieving the flag that blew down the street, coming up to the house, knocking and folding the flag properly,Ā returning it. Itās pretty awesome and heartwarming.Ā
