Hate speech online can cause harm in real life. We can all help support people targeted by hate speech and raise awareness of how it harms societies. Get more ideas on how you can say #NoToHate: un.org/en/hate-speech/take-a…

"For me to receive my award [in front] of the stage, it's like you receiving yours behind a curtain." A woman received her award on the floor due to no ramp. Accessible spaces must be a priority, and Canada's goal to be barrier-free by 2040 is far off. cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scot…

Yesterday, First Nations Leadership had a conversation on how to safeguard all First Nations children from Canada’s discrimination which has separated tens of thousands of First Nations children from their families, cultures, languages and hope. Canada’s discrimination has cost generations of our children their childhoods. It must end for the good of the children, First Nations and Canadians too. The vote was to ensure justice for all First Nations children. Different views reflected the different cultures and realities of First Nations children. The work of @AFN_Updates @NANComms and @ChiefsofOntario was recognized and can be built upon. Today, the Chiefs will lay out an action plan to achieve justice for all First Nations children, young people and families. It will be done and I pledge to do my part🧡

Public school and post-secondary students deserve to be supported in learning about the complex and sometimes controversial issues facing us all. Preparing students to be informed, engaged, contributing citizens is in their interest and the public interest. #bced #bcelxn #bcpoli

Note: If a school could include - in regular classes with their peers the child in with the most complex care needs in the district - 30 YEARS ago - the same can be done today. Turn Mindset into problem solving, creative expansion, and enrichment for all.

ICARS will soon release The RIC Report showing nearly £10 million of tax payers money which has been spent across 1,200+ English schools for restraint and de-escalation training. These funds could be better utilized to support children and adequately compensate teachers and support staff, rather than enriching private organizations and charities. #TheRICReport

Inclusive education has not failed our students. The lack of accountability and inadequate support in the classroom is leaving students with disabilities behind.

An inclusive education system teaches students the benefits of diversity, cooperation, and consideration of others, whereas segregated programs create barriers to opportunities for children to learn from, support, and develop relationships with one another.

Inclusion BC is disturbed by the @Conservative_BC platform on education. Research in Canada and around the world shows us that all students learn better in inclusive classrooms. (A thread🧵) #BCElxn2024 #InclusiveEducation
