We're just a week away from the new Chancellor's first budget... There's been a lot of speculation in the press, but the detail will be revealed next Wednesday. BID hosts @Lancschamber, together with @ForbesSolicitor, are staging 'Budget:Live' - an exclusive event, featuring an expert panel, where guests will watch the Budget, then dissect what the Chancellor's announcements mean for #Lancashire's businesses. You don't have long left to secure your place(s), which are FREE to BID members, and include lunch. "Two weeks after being named Preston’s Community Champions, the Friends of Winckley Square celebrate their ten year anniversary." The BID & @Lancschamber are proud to have been initial funding partners for the square's redevelopment, leading to additional Lottery funding. It's widely agreed that Winckley Square is now feeling far more like the 'gem' it was always intended to be. A huge thanks to the 'Friends' group for their continued efforts in promoting and looking after the square's gardens. @WinckleySquare

COLLABORATION, COMMUNICATION AND CONNECTIVITY IS KEY TO PRESTON’S HIGH STREET FUTURE, MP HEARS. That’s the call from business owners across #Preston following a round table event with a government lead for town/city centres. Patrick Hurley, a North West MP, who chairs the national All Party Parliamentary Group for Town Centres, was invited by the BID to visit the city centre to engage with local stakeholders, independent retailers, hospitality venues and council officials. The discussion centred around the challenges facing high streets like those in Preston, investment opportunities, business rates, transport, accessibility and how national policies can support the retail and night time economy within the city.
