Justin Timberlake revealed that *NSYNC’s “Gone” was originally written for MICHAEL JACKSON, who initially REJECTED it before personally calling Justin to record it as a DUET 😳👀 Justin thought Michael’s call was a PRANK and CUSSED HIM OUT before hanging up, only to realize it was actually him. He ultimately turned down the duet out of LOYALTY to *NSYNC because Michael wanted the song to feature just the two of them. “The vocal that you hear on ‘Gone’ is basically me demoing the song to pitch to him…He goes, ‘I’ve heard this song called Gone, and I understand that you wrote it for me…I think it should be a duet between the two of us.’…I felt an allegiance to what we were at that point and I respectfully said, ‘I hope we can do something down the road, but I can’t turn my back on what I’ve already committed to with the fellas’”
