The “gold standards” in air accidents investigations, the US NTSB, Canada TSB, French BEA, UK AAIB are independent of the aviation regulator FAA, TCCA, DGAC, CAA respectively. The American TSBs report directly to their Legislatures, while the Europeans are under their respective departments of transportation. The agencies always have at the minimum a certified ATPL pilot, a mechanical engineer, and an electronics engineer, and a human factors specialist, led by a person with legal investigative expertise. All full time. No deputation or seconding. Independence is needed since an investigation normally investigates regulations also. The Indian AAIB team has 2 of its 5 members from the DGCA. Any agency investigating itself naturally breeds suspicion. The lack of certified specialists and experts in the five critical areas adds to the mistrust. It will behoove the powers in charge to make the needed corrections and immediately induct the needed team members to ensure industry and public confidence into the #AI171 investigation.

An absolutely authoritative 10 minutes summary on the true state of Indo-US relations. I urge all to hear just 10 minutes of Ambassador #MeeraShankar from 2 min mark to 12 in convo with @smitaprakash of @ANI.
@Z_DauletSingh 1946 loan by US to Britain allong with Bretton Woods was the transfer of economic supremacy. UK didn’t just hand off India to the US. Brits owed India about £1.16 billion in sterling balances for wartime IOUs accumulated for Indian goods, not American aid. The 1946 US loan required Britain to restore sterling convertibility so India could convert Sterling IOUs to USD, in July 1947, suspended in just 37 days. India’s sterling claims were restricted: Britain controlled release and conversion into dollars, limiting India’s ability to buy goods abroad and fund development.

Security Alert: U.S. Mission Saudi Arabia (October 21, 2026)
Iranian-supported Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure resulting in civilian casualties and severe travel disruptions. The hostilities have the potential to escalate rapidly beyond that immediate area.
U.S. citizens are reminded to follow the guidance of national alerts released by Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense via cellular broadcast.
U.S. government employees working in Saudi Arabia require special authorization from Chief of Mission to use any airport in Saudi Arabia following recent missile and UAV attacks on airports in the Kingdom.
Operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh remain suspended. King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam are operational with some delays and cancellations.
U.S. citizens should be aware of potential attacks on airports, airspace closures, flight cancellations, and travel disruptions. Please take extreme caution if you choose to use airports in Saudi Arabia. We recommend checking your flight departure status directly with the airline and with the airport.

The shortcut is, if you see Premium Economy being sold on BLR LHR, it is likely a Retrofitted 788
On @airindia A350, 787-9 (not 787-8), 777-300 flights ex India to London.
Is Air India ready to challenge the status quo on the nonstop Bengaluru @BLRAirport London @HeathrowAirport route?
Hearing that @airindia is confident of deploying its refurbished 787-8 by January 1 or may be even before Christmas.
It’s a move that will inject much-needed @StarAlliance capacity into a market long dominated by @British_Airways of @traveloneworld and @VirginAtlantic of @skyteam.
The refurbished cabins will offer them new business suites, premium economy and economy classes which Bangalore demands in spades.

This will be a significant shift in the competitive landscape on one of India’s key long-haul routes.

During his Indian tour, Rubio sought to get India to buy more U.S. energy as well as more oil from Venezuela, whose export revenues are directly deposited into an account controlled by the U.S. Treasury, with Washington determining when, how much and for what purposes the funds are released. Rubio wants the world’s largest oil-refining complex in Jamnagar to process more Venezuelan crude.
Washington appears not to be content with India’s rapid emergence since May as a top global buyer of U.S.-sourced and U.S.-controlled energy supplies. The U.S. has already become India’s largest supplier of both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). At Washington’s urging, India has also become the largest destination for Venezuelan oil exports.
A key U.S. goal is to weaken the Indo-Russian relationship by steering India farther away from Russian crude. While Rubio framed India’s efforts to diversify its energy portfolio as a “smart thing to do,” Washington’s underlying diplomatic objective is to get India to substitute Russian oil with U.S. crude and U.S.-controlled Venezuelan oil.
