Temple waste, primarily consisting of organic materials like flowers, leaves, coconuts, and fruits offered during religious rituals, often goes untreated and contributes to environmental pollution when disposed of in rivers or landfills. Additionally, non-biodegradable items such as plastic packaging and synthetic materials used for decorations exacerbate the issue. Organic waste can be composted to produce manure, while flowers can be recycled into eco-friendly products like incense sticks and organic dyes. Temples should also promote the use of eco-friendly materials, ban single-use plastics, and encourage devotees to adopt sustainable practices. Let's keep our places of worship clean and our surroundings sustainable! Together, we can encourage greener temple practices, reduce pollution, and contribute to a cleaner, healthier Bengaluru. #BPAC #SwachhaBengaluru #BGreen #CleanBengaluru #TempleWasteManagement #FloralWaste #WasteToWealth #SustainableTemples #EcoFriendlyPractices #OrganicWasteManagement #WasteSegregation #CircularEconomy @kiranshaw @RevathyAshok @TVMohandasPai @SwachhBharatGov

Sustainability goes beyond reducing physical waste. While recycling and minimising everyday waste are essential steps towards protecting our environment, there is another form of waste that often goes unnoticed: digital waste! From unread emails and unused files to duplicate photos, our digital habits leave an environmental footprint too. Every piece of data stored online relies on data centres that consume electricity for processing, storage, and cooling, contributing to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions depending on their energy sources. As our reliance on digital technologies continues to grow, so does the need to rethink how we consume, store, and manage digital information. Small digital habits can contribute to a more sustainable future! By deleting unnecessary files, clearing digital clutter, optimising cloud storage, managing data more efficiently, and using AI tools mindfully, we can encourage responsible digital consumption and help reduce unnecessary resource demands. #BPAC #SwachhaBengaluru #BGreen #CleanBengaluru #DigitalWaste #DigitalSustainability #DigitalCarbonFootprint #GreenDigitalPractices #SustainableLiving @kiranshaw @RevathyAshok @TVMohandasPai @SwmrtBengaluru @GBA_office @GBAChiefComm @DKShivakumar @SwachhBharatGov

When electrical appliances or devices stop working, discarding them often seems like the easiest option. But what if we chose to repair, reuse, or donate them instead? A simple shift in how we handle unwanted electronics can make a significant difference in reducing e-waste, conserving valuable resources, and protecting our environment! Every year, millions of tonnes of electronic waste, including smartphones, laptops, and household appliances, are discarded worldwide, often ending up in landfills or being improperly processed, where hazardous substances can contaminate soil, water, and air. Rather than adding to this growing environmental challenge, we can give our electronics a second life through responsible choices. Together, let's rethink how we dispose of electronics, adopt more sustainable habits, and build a cleaner, greener, and more responsible Bengaluru for generations to come! #BPAC #SwachhaBengaluru #BGreen #CleanBengaluru #EWasteManagement #ElectronicWaste #ReduceReuseRecycle #ResponsibleRecycling #SustainableLiving #CircularEconomy @kiranshaw @RevathyAshok @TVMohandasPai @SwmrtBengaluru @GBA_office @GBAChiefComm @DKShivakumar @SwachhBharatGov

In 2001, Gujarat was running out of water. Twenty-five years later, over 80% of rural India has a tap. A new case study, From Gujarat to India: Water Lessons for the World, traces how India's water governance evolved and distils 4 lessons for the Global South: 1️⃣ Lead with governance, not hardware 2️⃣ Manage the water source and the service together 3️⃣ Make communities the owners 4️⃣ Go big, with political will, financing and capacity Water security is as much a governance challenge as an engineering one. Study by Daniel W. Smith, Nitin Bassi and Parameswaran Iyer, published by George Mason University and the Gates Foundation. Join us to create more awareness about all that matters to Bengaluru. Managing organic waste responsibly is more than just an environmental necessity. It is an opportunity to turn everyday waste into valuable resources, create healthier surroundings, and contribute to a more sustainable Bengaluru! While organic waste is naturally biodegradable, improper disposal and unmanaged decomposition can contribute to environmental pollution, unpleasant odours, and public health concerns. Through effective waste segregation, composting, and scientific waste management practices, we can reduce the burden on landfills while transforming organic waste into valuable resources, such as renewable biogas and nutrient-rich fertilisers. Every small action counts! From greener gardens and cleaner neighbourhoods to healthier communities, responsible organic waste management can create a lasting impact. #BPAC #SwachhaBengaluru #BGreen #CleanBengaluru #OrganicWasteManagement #WasteSegregation #SustainableWasteManagement #Composting #Biogas #WasteToWealth #CircularEconomy @kiranshaw @RevathyAshok @TVMohandasPai @SwmrtBengaluru @GBA_office @GBAChiefComm @DKShivakumar @SwachhBharatGov

Every day, tonnes of household domestic waste, from food scraps to discarded packaging, add to Bengaluru's growing waste management challenges. But what if a simple habit at home could make a difference across the city? By segregating waste into wet, dry, and domestic hazardous categories, we can reduce the burden on landfills, improve recycling and prevent environmental pollution. After all, responsible waste management doesn't begin at a landfill or a processing facility. So, the next time you toss something into the bin, pause and think beyond your doorstep. A small act of segregation today can go a long way towards building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Bengaluru. #BPAC #BGREEN #SwachhaBengaluru #CleanBengaluru #WasteSegregation #WasteManagement #SegregateAtSource #ResponsibleWasteDisposal #SustainableBengaluru #SolidWasteManagement #SwachhBharat @kiranshaw @RevathyAshok @TVMohandasPai @SwmrtBengaluru @GBA_office @GBAChiefComm @DKShivakumar @SwachhBharatGov

As Bengaluru continues to grow, so does the construction and demolition waste generated across the city. From broken concrete and leftover cement to wood, glass, and granite, much of this material has the potential to be recovered, recycled, or reused instead of becoming an environmental burden. Let’s aim to build awareness around responsible construction waste management and encourage a shift towards more sustainable practices. Because building a better Bengaluru is not only about what we create, but also how responsibly we manage what we leave behind. #BPAC #SwachhaBengaluru #BGreen #CleanBengaluru #GreenBengaluru #WasteManagement #ConstructionWaste #SustainableBengaluru #SustainableLiving #WasteToResource #CircularEconomy #NammaBengaluru @kiranshaw @RevathyAshok @TVMohandasPai @SwmrtBengaluru @GBA_office @GBAChiefComm @DKShivakumar @SwachhBharatGov

Thank you, @BangaloreMirror, for this detailed article highlighting the findings from the Hosur Road Corridor Mobility Audit, conducted by B.PAC in partnership with @boschindia . As part of the larger mobility assessment of the six-km stretch from Shoolay Circle to Silk Board, B.PAC’s B.MOBILE team assessed 16 bus-stop locations to understand gaps in accessibility, passenger comfort, information, safety, security, and maintenance. The audit found that 88% of the stops had poor or damaged pavements, 94% had inadequate signage, only 31% provided route and timing information, and just 44% had real-time ETA displays. The findings reinforce an important principle: a bus stop cannot be viewed in isolation. Walking, waiting, and boarding must function as one continuous, safe, and accessible public transport journey. From obstruction-free footpaths and accessible kerb ramps to better lighting, seating, route information and real-time arrival displays, strengthening these everyday touchpoints can make public transport safer, more inclusive and commuter-friendly for Bengaluru. The Dakshina Pinakini River: the 494 km river Bengaluru calls a drain. The black, foamy channel in eastern Bengaluru is the start of a river that runs from the Nandi Hills through Karnataka (87 km) and Tamil Nadu (about 399 km) and into the Bay of Bengal via Puducherry. Along the way, it is called Thenpennai, Ponnaiyar and Pennaiyar. The river is now at the centre of two fights: interstate pollution cases before the National Green Tribunal, and a water-sharing dispute where the Supreme Court ordered a tribunal in February 2026. It was never a drain. We just stopped following the river. Have a water-related story to share, or know someone doing inspiring work in the water space? Send us a DM. Google Maps doesn't call this a river anymore. It calls it a "Nala." 🚱 This is the Vrishabhavathi River, born near Sankey Tank in Malleshwaram, running through Peenya, Mysore Road, and Kengeri, before meeting the Arkavathi near Kanakapura. In the 1960s, people picnicked on its banks. Today, locals call it "Kengeri Mori", the gutter of Kengeri. In 2019, 12,000 Bengalureans ran 6km to save this river. It's still called a drain. #Vrishabhavathi #VrishabhavathiRiver #BengaluruRivers #NammaBengaluru #SaveOurRivers Have a water-related story to share, or know someone doing inspiring work in the water space?
