Lovely people, I’m having to ask for your help again and though I know it’s ok to ask for help when you need it, it still leaves me feeling embarrassed and ashamed. Sales are at an all time low and my basic outgoings keep skyrocketing (1/4)

APPEAL FOR PEOPLE TO ATTEND FUNERAL OF VETERAN WHO HAS NO FAMILY 🚨💔RAF A heartfelt appeal has been made for members of the public to attend the funeral of a 91-year-old RAF veteran who has no surviving family. John Thomas Gray, originally from Boldon Colliery, passed away on 3 August. With no relatives left behind, only a few photographs were found among his possessions. Mr Gray’s funeral will take place at 9am on Wednesday, 3 September, at South Shields Crematorium. Despite his service in the Royal Air Force, no standard bearer or bugler has been made available for the service. The Royal British Legion has said they are unable to assist without Mr Gray’s regimental number. Friends and organisers have described the situation as deeply sad and are calling on the community to come together to ensure Mr Gray does not make his final journey alone. Richard Dalton Funerals and organiser Tracy Curren are appealing for anyone who can act as a standard bearer, particularly from the RAF, or a bugler to get in touch. Ex-service personnel and members of the public are also warmly invited to attend and pay their respects. The message from organisers is clear: “No veteran should go on his final journey alone.” 📍 Funeral details: Date: September 3rd (Wed) Time: 9am Venue: South Shields Crematorium Contact: Richard Dalton Funerals (0191 7070770) or Tracy Curren

I’m genuinely shocked that this incredibly ill thought law has succeeded. When I worked in a hospice, we had to fundraise approximately £10,000 a day to keep it fully functioning. To see this bill succeed before palliative care is fully funded and available is almost unbelievable.

MPs voted in favour of passing the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill for E&W to the next stage of the Parliamentary process. We are still concerned that the Bill does not currently require a holistic assessment of unmet need See our response shorturl.at/SRwr9

.@kimleadbeater you are misleading the House before today’s vote. You know the Royal College of Psychiatry - the experts in capacity & coercion - has explicitly opposed your bill. It breaks my heart that you would use a sleight of hand to mislead MPs and the public in this way.

“As it stands, this bill would not give us, as psychiatrists, enough space or time to carry out proper, holistic assessments. The idea that we could be involved on a panel only to check decisions made by others … is deeply troubling.” rcpsych.ac.uk/news-and-featu…

1/ MPs have been told that Kim Leadbeater is backing Amendment 14 to address the anorexia loophole. That’s NOT what the amendment does. On the eve of the vote, many Members still don’t appear to understand what they’re being asked to vote on. An explainer below 🧵

As of Friday, these disturbing elements of Kim's Bill are now set in stone*. MPs voting 'aye' at Third Reading will be accepting that: 🚨Any doctor, with no training, can raise ending a patient's life, no matter how vulnerable the patient [NC1 rejected] 🚨 Doctors and the panel only have to be 51% sure that the patient is not coerced or pressured, meets the criteria, or really wishes to die [NC9 not selected] 🚨 Ministers can lift the advertising ban at will, or make carve outs (without limit) [NC14b rejected] 🚨 "Education campaigns", set out in the impact assessment, targeting "family members, friends, unpaid carers and other support organisations and charities" are fine. [NC14b rejected] 🚨 Coroners will be excluded despite strong opposition from the Royal College of Pathologists and former Chief Coroner that this will mean wrongdoing is concealed [NC15a not selected for decision] * Some were active decisions by MPs. Others a result of the process: new clauses - offering an alternative approach - were not selected for a vote.. At report stage only Kim's amendments are guaranteed a decision, and the Speaker can only select a small number of other amendments for a vote.
🚨Doctor assisted suicide for England & Wales🚨 13 key issues to be decided on Friday 13th Only Kim’s amendments are guaranteed a decision — but all of these should be put to a vote. MPs must engage with the detail of what is in THIS Bill and what precisely they are saying yes to. 🚨1⃣NC1: Are MPs content for any doctor to initiate a discussion about ending a patient’s life, regardless of how vulnerable the patient may be? 🚨2⃣NC2: Are MPs content that any doctor can raise ending a patient's life with someone terminally ill under the age of 18? 🚨3⃣NC16: Are MPs content that the bill allows assisted dying *because* someone is depressed, feels like a burden, lacks support, or is in financial distress? 🚨4⃣Amdt 12: Are MPs content to allow ministers of any government to change any aspect of the NHS — including its founding principles — with little further say? 🚨5⃣Amdt 15: Are MPs content that private, for-profit providers could run this service — with no profit cap, no transparency obligations, and little oversight? 🚨6⃣NC9: Are MPs comfortable that the panel and assisting doctor need only be 51% sure — a simple majority — that the patient is not being coerced and meets the criteria? 🚨7⃣NC14b: Are MPs content to allow a minister to lift the advertising ban at will, without parliamentary scrutiny? 🚨8⃣24, 45: Are MPs comfortable with assuming capacity for life-ending decisions — with no requirement for formal assessment? Are MPs content that assessments are with a single doctor who doesn’t need to be an expert in that patient’s condition, nor know the patient, nor involve others? 🚨9⃣103, 104: Are MPs content to hand over all further decisions about what this service will look like, and what their constituents will experience, with so many unknowns? 🚨🔟NC17: Are MPs comfortable that hospices and care homes could be compelled to participate in assisted dying, leaving many constituents without access to a genuinely safe space? 🚨1⃣1⃣99 + 100, 27: Do MPs really believe there’s no duty of care to those promised a ‘dignified death’ and no obligation to ensure drug safety standards, protect against distressing or prolonged death, and no need for patient clarity about possible complications? 🚨1⃣2⃣NC15a: Are MPs prepared to exclude coroners, despite concerns raised by the Royal College of Pathologists and a former Chief Coroner 🚨1⃣3⃣NC19: Do MPs want to identify systemic failures and ensure — from Day 1 — that we collect the data and insight needed to understand how assisted dying is used and who it affects?
