Just NINE (9️⃣) North Atlantic Right Whale calves have been born this year 🤯
One has now been so severely injured by a boat propeller that experts believe it will die.
This precious species is headed for extinction, thanks to entanglements in fishing gear and vessel strikes.
Sad to report that yet another newly born right whale has been greviously injured, most likely by a boat's propellers off South Carolina. It was the first of nine calves born this year. The critically endangered species can't bear to lose any calves.

Another reason to love Dick Van Dyke @iammrvandy
Here's the story I told that was cut from his 98th Birthday Special. In 1974 I was working on a TV series at CBS. My Mom was visiting for a day & I spotted him having lunch alone in the commissary. He had no idea who I was but when I went to his table to ask if I could bring her over to meet him because we were both longtime fans, I got a real shock. He asked me to point her out & when I did, without asking he immediately walked over to our table, sat down & proceeded to charm the socks off the both of us for almost 20 minutes, until I was due back on set. Needless to say, it was an experience we both treasured forever! #TrueStory 🙏DVD!!! ❤️-mh

With the return of humpback whales, or Koholā, to Hawaiʻi waters, we want to remind ocean users to keep a safe & legal distance of at least 100 yards from whales, and reduce vessel speed.
