Most bitcoin retirement plans don’t break because of bitcoin. They break because nothing in the plan can absorb a normal drawdown.
That’s what ballast is for. It’s the cash and non-bitcoin reserves that let you cover spending through a decline without selling at the wrong time, and without second-guessing the decision to retire.
Volatility is part of owning bitcoin. Ballast is how you plan for it instead of reacting to it. Sizing it before you retire matters more than timing your exit.
