Word of the Day!
“When the rain rains, it rains on the leopard’s skin, but it does not change the spots of the leopard.”
As we continue organizing for an end to gender based violence, the challenges may test us, but they must not weaken our commitment to the work

Safer communities are built through collaboration, care and shared responsibility. From law enforcement and community structures to families, schools and local organisations, we all have a role to play in creating safer spaces for everyone.
#BathoBaMolao
Care work sustains our families and communities, but its burden is not always shared equally.
Recognising, supporting and sharing care is essential to building a society where everyone has the opportunity to participate and thrive.

Today, we were in conversation with various stakeholders at a dialogue hosted by the University of Johannesburg Community Engagement Forum, exploring how to advance collective responsibility in preventing gender-based violence (GBV) in South Africa’s nightlife economy. 👇🏽
Addressing GBV requires a coordinated effort across sectors, with each stakeholder recognising their role in prevention and contributing to meaningful, sustainable change.

The conversation created space to reflect on the role that different organisations, institutions and stakeholders play in preventing GBV, particularly in nightlife spaces where safety, accountability and collective action remain essential.

The right to live free from violence should never come with the burden of having to prevent it alone. Protecting women’s safety requires collective responsibility and action.

A Sunday reminder that speaking up is an act of solidarity.
In moments when silence can feel easier, may we continue to use our voices, stand with one another, and speak for those whose voices have been taken from them.
