Folklorama 26 photo with the late Derek Dabee - Derek was a joy to work with on various cricket projects & especially the Garden City running track . He will be missed .

Honoured to be a panelist at Saturday’s Youth at Risk Symposium at CMU (even if the Free Press did not mention me!) . Excellent comments from John Wiens about the role of public schools being to create a public .

Great day at Gordon Bell as invited guest to Reach for the Top game (part of GB 100th anniversary) w/ CBC legend Lionel Moore & the provincial championship “ Brian Mayes trophy” on display .

‘Anti-worker’ status change for Winnipeg Transit Plus drivers voted down – Winnipeg Free Press winnipegfreepress.com/breaki… via @WinnipegNews

My final Council prayer was a tribute to the absent John Orlikow , singing part of Bob Dylan’s “ Chimes of Freedom” with help from Coun Rollins.

Proud to support St Amant (& the dynamic Ben & Tania) at the annual Fall Run.

The attempt to repeal protections for Transit Plus drivers is also in keeping with this term’s “anti-transparency” efforts , as EPC moves to eliminate info related to bids from public / council scrutiny . Just rubber-stamp the seven year service contracts and move on..

Plsd to attend Chilean flag raising today at City Hall .

The city told Ombudsman’s office in 2019 that all workers doing transit plus driving were “ employees” of the private companies. This was not true. The Ombudsman relied on this evidence and made no comment on city’s illegal practice of calling some drivers independent contractors.

Ridiculous anti-worker provision passed w/ walk-on motion at Public Works, approved by EPC. The deal to improve lives of Transit Plus workers thrown in garbage. Allows return of sub-minimum wage “independent contractors”. Also breaches Ombudsman report. Final vote at Council.

Full day Saturday : several hours of door knocking plus Gord Delbridge Celebration of Life; Ahmadiyya Run for Winnipeg at StV Park,& Pioneer Mosque 50th anniversary.

Kudos to my colleagues on Property committee for supporting my motion to end the (probably illegal) practice of taking the interest from funds being held for infrastructure projects in Future Services Account.

Wearing my city hall “emergency tie” for final committee meeting. Jason Schreyer once had to wear this after he appeared at Council with no tie, so wearing it today as a tribute to my late colleague.

Plas to attend the launch of the Alternative Municipal budget . Starting debate about need to re-introduce an impact fee on new development, once the ridiculous current federal bar on such ( much needed) fees is lifted.

Dedicating new play structure at Ecole Springfield Heights w/ @jbrowaty Minister Schmidt & MLA Schott. Thx to PAC for inviting me - we worked together on my 10-day Taskforce on School playstructure funding . Province came through w/ $3m fund incl $ for Lavallee & Sage Creek.
