Did you know: 👇👀👇 The rare Killarney fern grows in the gritstone chasm of Lud’s Church at The Roaches in the SWP. This site is considered to be the Green Chapel sought by Sir Gawain in the medieval poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. @peakdistrict @StaffsWildlife

The long-tailed tit is easily recognisable with its distinctive colouring, a tail which is bigger than its body, and undulating flight. Photo taken at Back Dane.

More yellow rattle was sown in the wildflower meadow at Back Dane today. Yellow-rattle is an annual that thrives in grasslands, living a semi-parasitic life feeding off the nutrients in the roots of grasses. The seeds were kindly donated by the @SouthWestPeak Grasslands team.
We are really grateful for our recent @alpkit grant enabling us to purchase water butts and compost bins for our small Peak District charity. The Trust offers respite breaks to the disadvantaged and those in need. #AlpkitFoundation #GoNicePlacesDoGoodThings

Last weekend we welcomed a refugee family to Backdane via the Greater Lincolnshire Area of Sanctuary. Their expenses were funded by an Allen Lane Foundation Grant. The family had a wonderful time (despite the weather!)
