Everton supporters attending Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Chelsea at Hill Dickinson Stadium are strongly encouraged to allow extra time for their journey and arrive early ahead of the 12.30pm kick-off. A combination of emergency roadworks on Great Howard Street (northbound) and planned disruption to rail services from South Liverpool, both outlined in more detail below, is expected to place additional pressure on routes to the stadium before the game. With a large number of supporters travelling during a compressed Saturday morning period, the Club is encouraging fans to plan ahead and arrive earlier than usual to help avoid congestion and long queues close to kick-off. Leeds Street, Vauxhall Road, Scotland Road and Regent Road are expected to be busier than usual, and fans travelling by car from the south of the city are asked, wherever possible, to circumnavigate the city centre and journey to the stadium from the north. The family of a young Evertonian diagnosed with a rare bone marrow disorder a week before his first birthday are celebrating following life-saving stem-cell treatment. Ronnie, now 18-months old, touched the hearts of everyone across the city at the Merseyside derby in April when the Club first highlighted his fight with aplastic anaemia, a rare condition where the bone marrow cannot make enough new blood cells for the body to function normally. Ronnie’s emotional mum, Laura, explained “He was discharged after ringing the bell on 4 September - and obviously he had to have his Everton kit on for that day – but we’re still in isolation until next year because Ronnie is still a high-risk, vulnerable person. “But the doctors are just amazed how well he's handled it and we’ve since managed four weeks at home, which is the first we've had at home for that long since this all started in February."
