I can’t say for certain but my assumption would be that the reason given was the fact that Chaim became the president of Israel. Irish leftist’s problem with Israel is not what it does, but what it is. Any association, past or present, with the world’s only Jewish state is verboten.

OUT NOW: Gregory Baldi's 'Ideas, Institutions, and the Politics of Schools in Postwar Britain and Germany' has just published in our Palgrave Studies in the History of Childhood series - find out more here: bit.ly/3aaOCzb
Most of the recent literature on the politics of #education has applied a political economy perspective / focused on interests (including my own work). Two new books by @MarinaCinoP & @BaldiGregory offer great analysis on the role of ideas & discourses. Much recommended.

Congratulations to @JoeBiden on winning the presidential election in a record turnout. And to @KamalaHarris; the first female, black and Indian-American to hold the country’s 2nd highest office. Look forward to working with you to build on the strong links between Wales and USA.

Gotta love First Past the Post: The Conservatives won 56.2% of Commons seats with 43.6% of the vote - and a 1.3 percentage point increase in vote-share gave them a 7.4 percentage point increase in seats. (Figures courtesy of @electoralreform).

Difficult to deny that this kinda sums up the polling on Mr Corbyn right now.

So this is the view from our Special Collections Reading Room at George IV Bridge, Edinburgh, looking over the rooftops towards Arthur's Seat. Even in wet weather (like today) it's a little bit 😍 #MondayMotivation

Below is trend of all published UK public opinion polls over last 9 years. Anyone who claims to know what will happen if/when there's an early election is lying to themselves. Haven't in recent memory seen such low support for two lead parties & high support for Lib Dems

McDonnell backing Indy ref and and referring to the "English parliament" is so dim (and he's not dim) that wondering if he is ok. What are depleted Scottish Labour pro-Union voters supposed to do? He might as well put up a sign saying vote Lib Dem or Tory in Scotland.
