Fun fact: Rutherford, Neils Bohr, and de Broglie - the scientists responsible for our fundamental understanding of the Atomic structure nominated him for Nobel.
The Raman effect is the change in the wavelength of light that occurs when a light beam is deflected by molecules. It was named after Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman who was born #OnThisDay, 7 November 1888. The Raman effect is used to analyse different types of material.
Congratulations Rabi!
I recently participate in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) and won the Peoples Choice Award in the Department of Chemical Engineering. My research is in Lithium-Ion Battery recycling, check out my 3MT submission here:

This is the rejection letter for the work that just won the Nobel Prize. Don’t stop believing!
I should save all of mine and maybe one day some stranger will think it’s an amazing relic and tweet it...
Finally ...
The 2019 #NobelPrize in Chemistry has been awarded to John B. Goodenough, M. Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino “for the development of lithium-ion batteries.”
