Residents deserve better from @medway_council. They are fed up with the lack of action to address the daily antisocial behaviour problem of motorbikes & quadbikes on Barnfield Recreation Ground. This is council land but they fail to tackle the problem. It is shameful.

Medway Council @medway_council have failed to undertake important repairs to protect pedestrians on this footpath, despite being told of the vandalism in Sept 25. This lack of urgency means pedestrians are at risk every day - as this video shows @RobertBoddy @MedwayCSP

🧵1of3 - So far this year there have been 14 deliberate fires at Barnfield Recreational Ground (that we know of). The first in January was a motorbike and the last one in May was a moped (see previous post). @medway_council @MedwayCSP @MedwayLabour @vincemaple @rdulieu
🧵2of3 - Between December 2025 & March 2026 @medway_council and/or its contractor (Medway Norse) have dumped tons of flammable waste in 12 locations around Barnfield. The previous (@MedwayTories run) Council used to turn this hay into bails & remove it from the land,
🧵3of3 - Perhaps out of common sense or because it’s an offence under various environmental & fire regulations to leave flammable material.
So far 5 out of the 12 have been deliberately set on fire. All of which have required @kentfirerescue to attend, extinguish and make safe.

In 2023 @MedwayLabour introduced a PSPO to tackle nuisance vehicles across Medway. It has been a SPECTACULAR failure. For it to be effective, it actually has to be ENFORCED. This is another example of words above action. @medway_council @MedwayCSP
This has STILL not been repaired by @medway_council @MedwayLabour. Ineptitude or laziness? Residents expect far better from their Council - especially when their safety is at risk daily.

🧵1of5 @medway_council's incompetency extends beyond Barnfield Rec. There are multiple greenspaces where users aren’t protected due to vandalised fencing and/or inadequate anti-vehicle barriers. Clearly no one is regularly undertaking checks & repairs of these greenspaces.
