Good luck to our brave and articulate soldiers, @HJoyceGender and @Jebadoo2, who are giving evidence on the evil Conversion Practices draft Bill in parliament today. Thank you 💪

Blatant predictive programming. I was just flicking through telly and this brief power cut happened in sodding Coronation Street. I don’t believe in coincidences. Desperate stuff 😂.

John Healey tells @BBCr4today that the election will be in 2028: "It’s quite simple on the election. The Prime Minister’s ruled out an election next year. There will be an election, it’ll be at some time before 2029."

Labour spin doctors rush to contradict the Chancellor… Welfare waste is going to keep on ballooning under Burnham. This was a benefits budget for British decline.
Uh oh… after John Healey clearly promised on @BBCr4today that the benefits bill will be cut before the next election, @ChrisMasonBBC tells listeners the Treasury have since been on the phone disputing he said this and that he wasn’t putting a timeline on welfare reductions.

Look what happened while we were reporting on the Budget... Andy Burnham has ordered his ministers to avoid publicly backing specific options for the UK’s future relationship with the EU as the Government considers how to potentially deepen ties with Brussels. In a letter published on Wednesday, the PM said any “fundamental change” to post-Brexit arrangements would be “for the public to decide” and left to the next Parliament. He said: “It is important that we remain aligned and disciplined as a Government in our messaging throughout this period. “It will not be appropriate for ministers individually to advocate for specific options or opine on the likely outcome of the process.” Is the PM right to gag his Cabinet from expressing concerns about this Brexit plans? EXCLUSIVE: Labour advisers at the Home Office broke the law by meeting candidates for a senior Civil Service job, the appointments watchdog has found. A letter uncovered by this Substack reveals that Baroness Stuart ruled their involvement a “Fundamental Breach” - the watchdog’s most serious category - and ordered a targeted audit. The rules exist to stop political advisers filling the permanent Civil Service with political allies. Yet the government refuses to say how many meetings took place or whether the recruitment process was suspended or cancelled. Read my investigation below. stevenedginton.com/p/reveale…

The electorate aren’t goldfish. Our memories are long enough to recall June 2024, when you declared that trans-identified men with penises should be able to use women’s public bathrooms. It took a Supreme Court ruling to force you to uphold women’s rights, and now you pose as our bold champion? Please.
The time for talk has long passed. This government is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to supporting women and girls. We'll back practical action to confine misogyny to the history books - in public services, workplaces, and online. theguardian.com/society/2026…

BREAKING The OBR suggests that successive increases in the national living wage and the employment rights act will hit jobs It says the employment right act will have a ‘negative economic impact’ and hit businesses through ‘increased uncertainty, lost flexibility and higher Labour related costs’ It says that these will ‘more than offset’ any potential increase in productivity

BREAKING The OBR says the tax raid on landlords - increasing property income tax rates by another 2% - will: 1) Make it less likely that people become landlords, ‘reducing long term rental supply’ and leading to a ‘steady long-term rise in rents’ 2) See landlords simply pass on costs to tenants, increasing rents
