The explicit reason for a salary cap is fairly clear.
Private equity is buying majority/minority shares of pro sports teams, and MLB owners can do that more if they have a salary-cap league that would continue to increase franchise evaluations at rates that exceed the current ones.
Owners can cash-out, PE can invest in something with more lucrative ROIs than other investment ventures, and we the sports fan gain absolutely nothing.

I keep thinking Maki doesn't have the power to play 1B in MLB, and he keeps hitting home runs. Very impressive.

Someone is going to double tap Skenes and Crochet at the 2/3 turn and win their league.

I like the 31 HR comp but I'll take the over on a .197 BA and .282 OBP.

He improved his walk rate from 8.8% to 9.5% and then 11.1% the past 2 seasons. MLB average is around 8.5%. He obviously won't hold a 11.1% walk rate or even a 8.5% probably. But neither will he have the worst walk rate in MLB. Brandon Lowe, Buxton and Burger seem like good comps.

I don't think he'll be that bad. He had a .383 OBP this past season.

Before making the jump to MLB, Seiya Suzuki hit 63 HR (252 G) across his final two seasons in Japan. Munetaka Murakami had 55 HR (199 G). New FA Teruaki Sato? 79 HR (282 G).

More games than the other two, but the point is completely valid. Sato has comparable power.
